THE NEW NATURAL HAS ARRIVED. A stay at Cavallo Point Lodge means living with nature in harmony but not austerity. Far from it. Our elegant but understated rooms and suites, acclaimed restaurant and world-class Healing Arts Center & Spa invite guests to be relaxed, nourished, invigorated and connected.
Cavallo Point was named for the wild stallions (caballos in Spanish, pronounced cavallos ) that would gather in this protected refuge by the bay to rest and feed. No doubt the horses found contentment here, surrounded by splendid views and clean Pacific air. People have long treasured the site as well. Most recently, the location was home to the U.S. Army s Fort Baker, which stood as sentry over the Golden Gate for more than 100 years.
a natural blend of past and present CAVALLO POINT LODGE The exterior of the historic buildings has been beautifully restored to the Colonial Revival specifications of Fort Baker s original architecture, giving the lodge a clean, elegant look that harmonizes with the surrounding nature. Gracious contemporary accommodations of modern design also welcome guests. Many rooms and suites feature cozy fireplaces, outdoor patios and stunning views.
Organic cotton sheets, refined décor, plush bedding and modern wood accents offer guests natural luxury without excess. Abundant windows invite mornings filled with natural light shimmering across the bay, as fog swirls around the architectural wonders of San Francisco, the Golden Gate Bridge and Fort Baker. A national park lodge that trades the elk antlers and log beams for modern art and bamboo ceilings, Cavallo Point is a rare species. CONDÉ NAST TRAVELER

natural & green ENVIRONMENTAL INITIATIVES Cavallo Point was built to the highest standards of historic preservation, sustainability and stewardship. Since the project s inception, environmental initiatives have been a priority. Use of green building materials includes products that are regionally sourced, with a high content of recycled materials, or made from rapidly renewable resources. In historic buildings, reclaimed materials retain connections to the past, including crown molding, pressed tin ceilings, original hardwood floors, bedroom fireplaces and inviting porches. To beautify the landscape, the property s historic core features native plants and seeds from the Fort Baker watershed. To enhance visitor awareness of our environment, meeting rooms are named after local rare, threatened and endangered species, such as the Mission Blue butterfly. In recognition of its green achievements, Cavallo Point has received numerous awards for historic restoration, sustainability and environmental design. The project earned LEED Gold certification. Cavallo Point is the first national park lodge and the first hotel on the National Register of Historic Places to gain LEED certification.
