Chemically active environment Ventilation option "Protection against chemically active substances" for SUNNY CENTRAL 400LV, 400HE, 500HE, 630HE Contents This document describes the ventilation option "Protection against chemically active substances". This document is valid for the following Sunny Central models: SC 400LV-11 SC 400HE-11 SC 500HE-11 SC 630HE-11 SC-ChemAkt-UEN0923710 Version 1.0 1/5
Application 1 Application 1.1 Standard ventilation of the Sunny Central The standard design of the Sunny Central is intended for indoor installation and is cooled with ambient air in a service room. The inlet air must satisfy the requirements of classification 3S2. The standard ventilation of the Sunny Central is made directly by the individual switch cabinet units and by the power unit. SMA Solar Technology AG 2/5
Application 1.2 Optional ventilation of the Sunny Central If the Sunny Central is installed in places where the environmental impacts are greater, such as on the coast, the increased salt content of the air can damage individual components in the Sunny Central. Building activities that upgrade the service room where the Sunny Central devices are installed are one possibility for protecting the Sunny Central. Another possibility is to optimize the cooling circuit of the Sunny Central. In the ventilation option "Protection against chemically active substances" an air/air heat exchanger encapsulates the sensitive electronic components from the ambient air. Performance features 2 Performance features The ventilation option "Protection against chemically active substances" allows the Sunny Central to be used even under adverse ambient conditions. The solution offered encapsulates the sensitive electronic components of the Sunny Central safely away from the outside air, and the Sunny Central fulfills the requirements of classification 3C2 of DIN EN 60721-3-3. 2.1 Scope of the option package The option package includes the following additional properties: A closed cooling circuit of the DC/inverter cabinet An additional seal between the AC cabinet and the DC/inverter cabinet An additional protection for switches, contacts, and relays in the DC cabinet Additional heating to avoid moisture on sensitive components An ambient temperature sensor for power reduction Advantages of this ventilation option Protection of sensitive components of the Sunny Central against corrosion, for example for installation near the sea. Avoidance of dirt and dust deposits in the DC and inverter cabinet. SMA Solar Technology AG 4/5
Performance features 2.2 Technical Data In spite of the capsulation, it is possible to operate the inverters up to 50 C. For the Sunny Central 630HE-11 and Sunny Central 500HE-11 devices, operation with nominal power is possible up to 40 C. For the Sunny Central 400HE-11, operation with nominal power is possible up to 45 C. If higher temperatures occur temporarily because of the installation location, the inverter is protected against overheating by power reduction. The power reduction comes into effect in the range of +40 C to +50 C depending on the inverter type. The following table shows the range limits of the respective devices. SC 400HE-11 SC 500HE-11 SC 630HE-11 Starting temperature of the power reduction 45 C 40 C 40 C End temperature of the power reduction 50 C 50 C 50 C Power reduction in kw / C 20 22.2 31.5 Maximum power at 50 C 300 kw 300 kw 315 kw Nominal power in percent at 50 C 75 60 50 Recommended use of the ventilation option "Protection against chemically active substances" SMA recommends optimizing the ventilation of the Sunny Central in the following cases: Absolutely recommended when the Sunny Central is installed within a 5 km radius of the coast, regardless of the prevailing winds. Absolutely recommended when the Sunny Central is installed within a 5-10 km radius of the coast, when the prevailing winds blow from the sea to the coast. Absolutely recommended when the Sunny Central is installed within a 5-10 km radius of saltworks, salt mines, or salt lakes. Recommended when the Sunny Central is installed within a 50 km radius of the coast, when the prevailing winds blow from the sea to the coast. Recommended when the Sunny Central is installed within a 5-50 km radius of saltworks, salt mines, or salt lakes. SMA Solar Technology AG 5/5
