Perma Powder Applicator This fully automated machine applies powders to the printed area and also collects the excess powder all in one operation. Many have problems with static electricity or difficulties getting rid of excess powder outside the printed area. With the Perma Powder Applicator you can avoid all these problems. The Perma Powder Applicator was developed by a screen printer for screen printers. It is constructed and manufactured in Sweden and our aim has been to produce a high quality machine, with excellent durability and performance.

Description of Function Application of Adhesive Powder on Transfers (or any other kind of powder) The body of the machine is made of steel, welded sheet steel with red painted finish, and a net shaped belt conveyor is to be found on it. Above the belt conveyor and perpendicular to the direction of the movement of the belt conveyor, there is on one end a powder scatterer, and on the other end an air knife. When the belt conveyor is rolling and a print sheet is laid flat on it in the beginning of the line direction, the print sheet will first pass under the powder scatterer. The powder scatterer is vibrating and adhesive powder will fall from the scatterer down onto the passing print sheet, creating a thin and even layer of powder on it. The moist ink of the newly printed transfers will fix the powder where it is wanted (on the transfers), and not on the naked parts of the print sheet. This fixation is used when the print sheet then passes under the air knife, where the excess powder on the print sheet alongside of the transfers will be blown off, while the fixed powder on the transfers will remain. Hence the powder will only lie on the transfers. The belt conveyor is vibrating in order to bounce up the loose powder, making the blow off process more efficient. Consequently, when the print sheet with the transfers has passed the air-knife, there will be adhesive powder only on the transfers and no undesired adhesive powder alongside. Circulation of Powder The adhesive powder, which doesn t stick to the transfers due to the fact that it falls alongside the print sheet, or is not fixed on the transfers and therefore blown off the print sheet, will be sucked down by the suction fan through the net shaped belt conveyor into the underlying collecting vessel. The powder, which is collected in the collecting vessel, will be pumped up to the powder scatterer by two suction pumps, and the circulation is thereby completed. There is a filter in the shape of a cylinder, which is cleaning the sucked down air from the adhesive powder. Some of the air, which is sucked down and cleaned by the filter, will be used for the air-knife, while the rest will be let out into the air in the room. Please note that this filtered air is cleaner than normal indoor air. The filter is cleaned with a heavy blow of air.

The machine (which is mounted on wheels) is delivered in running order, fully prepared for installation between the printing machine and dryer. A professional should carry out installation. 2. The unit is designed for connection to a 400 V/16 A**, three-phase electric power supply. 3. The unit is also connected to a 6 bar compressed air supply. (Compressor is not included.) 4. Powders: Most kinds of powders can be used and easily exchanged if the process requires a different kind of powder. The powder is exchanged in the following way; The suction pump is switched off, while the vibrator of the powder scatterer is kept running. The aperture of the powder scatterer is opened to the maximum and all the remaining powder in it is emptied out. As all of the powder has been collected in the vessel, the suction fan is turned off. Empty the collecting vessel and then add the new powder into it. Switch the suction fan and the suction pump on. The machine is now ready to operate again. Maintenance of the Perma Powder Applicator Conveyor belt, air tubes and hoses should be inspected daily. Adjustments of conveyor belt (by tightening or loosening the nut on one of the pulley axles) may be necessary every once in a while. Filter should be inspected occasionally, and may need to be cleaned / replaced after some years.
