Situation Courthope Dane is situated within the North Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the popular hamlet of Wheelbarrow Town about ½ mile south of Stelling Minnis. Elham lies to the south east and Rhodes Minnis and Lyminge to the south. Stone Street (B2068) provides access to Canterbury to the north and the M20, Hythe, Folkestone and both Westenhanger and Sandling Stations to the south. The Cottage Courthope Dane is a charming period cottage which is Grade 2 listed and is believed to date from about 1725. The property benefits from a wealth of period features with heavily beamed ceilings to the ground floor rooms and pretty inglenook fireplaces to the sitting room and main bedroom, each with a woodburning stove. There is a small study off one of the bedrooms which was previously plumbed as a bathroom and would make a convenient ensuite shower room. Planning Planning consent and listed building consent were granted in April 2004 for a 2 storey rear extension, details can be found under Planning Refs Y03/1419/SH and Y03/1441/SH (Shepway District Council).
