CONTEXT Africa is currently undergoing transformation economically, socially, politically, legally, Environmentally and even culturally. These change has thus continued to shape the leadership of the continent just as much as the leadership contributes to the transformation in the states within the continent. Gradually the public service is becoming more open, dynamic, innovative, participatory, customer oriented, effective and efficient especially against the fact that citizens are becoming more right conscious and participatory in government issues,

CONTEXT CONT.. Propelling this change is the 4 th industrial revolution epitomized in the rapid information communication and technology which has not only broken barriers but has enhanced rapid transfer of information. The government inevitably has to transform

INTEGRATION SDG comes to force after the African Union Agenda 2063. There is therefore need to intergrade the SDGs and AU Agenda 2063 into government national development plans and other legal, political and policy framer. There should also be integration of systems, monitoring, evaluation and reporting framework

SYNERGIES There is need to create synergies in: Institutional frameworks- Harmonization Systems- Infrastructure like monitoring and evaluation systems Capacity building initiatives- Curriculums, sensitization Knowledge sharing- Information and knowledge repository

AREAS OF SYNERGIES Mainstreaming Prioritization Resource mobilization Implementation framework tools like the Monitoring, reporting and evaluation tools Entry points

AAPAM S ROLE AAPAM facilitates and supports this through: Capacity building promotion of Innovation professionalization of the public service knowledge repository Mentorship

TRAININGS Recent a training focus on the SDGs and Agenda 2030. In 2017 for example, AAPAM in collaboration with the School of Public Administration and Management- University of Pretoria South Africa and Department of Public Service and Administration South Africa conducted a seminar on transforming human resource management and development for the achievement to the Sustainable Development Goals and AU Agenda 2063. In August 2018, we will be conducting a training on promoting peaceful and inclusive societies: role of public administration and management. This is training is anchored on Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) No. 16 and the AU Agenda Aspirations No. 3 and 0

ANNUAL ROUND-TABLE CONFERENCE The themes in the last three years are hinged on SDGs and Agenda 2063 39 th Roundtable theme Innovation, resourcefulness, integration and inclusivity: fundamentals for the transformation of governance and public administration in Africa to achieve the Agenda 2063 and Sustainable Development Goals. 38 th Roundtable conference held in November 2017 in El, Jadidah Morocco focused on A Transformed Leadership: Managing National Resources to Achieve the Objectives of Africa Agenda 2063 and Sustainable Development Goals.

AAPAM INNOVATIVE MANAGEMENT AWARDS Since 2007 AAPAM has recognized government organizations that have implemented leading edge initiatives that are transforming the public sector and improving African government on behalf of its citizens. Innovation is the way to go.

AAPAM RESOURCE CENTER AAPAM produces publications on topical issues, these publications can be accessed at the Resource center. Its now digital Roundtable Conference Report Citizen Engagement, Decentralization and Service Delivery in Africa AJPAM Vol. XXIII

CONTINENTAL AND GLOBAL PARTICIPATION AAPAM continues to contribute in the transformation agenda by being part of the global and continental forums facilitating the attainment of the goals. AAPAM is part of the Working Taskforce on transformational leadership for effective implementation of the SDGs. Committee of Experts on Public Administration AU Specialized Technical Committee (STC)-8 meetings and events which is one of the organs used by AU to facilitate the implementation Agenda 2030
