Elmdown Farm This enchanting Grade II family home of great character was originally two game keepers cottages built around the 16th Century, belonging to the Parmore Estate. The original cottages were built of brick and flint under a tiled roof. Substantial extensions were undertaken, predominantly in 1995, by the current family. The property s character has been retained and the property re roofed and a rewiring project undertaken; the original leaded light windows remain. The gardens have been landscaped by Michael Balston, and the house has been the subject to a number of television programmes including Midsomer Murders. There is potential to convert the 18th Century listed barn which forms an attractive enclosed courtyard into the main body of the house.
Situation Lying in one of the most desirable picturesque valleys on the borders of Buckinghamshire/Oxfordshire in an area of outstanding natural beauty some 500 ft above sea level and only 45 miles from London. Henley-on-Thames is 6.5 miles distance, famous for the annual Royal Rowing Regatta followed by the Henley Music Festival. There are also a number of boutique shops and restaurants. Marlow, 5 miles away, is equally convenient and has a delightful high street flanked by shops, public houses and restaurants.
