Shrub and Fruit & Vegetable entries close at 5pm on Wednesday 14th November 2018 Rose and Cut Flower entries close 5pm Thursday 15th November 2018 All entries delivered to the Edna Wills Hall Rose and Cut Flower Section entries Friday 16th November 2018 prior to 8.00 am All other entries - 8am to 6pm Thursday 15th November 2018 Rules 1. All exhibits to be the bona fide property of the exhibitor two months prior to the show. 2. Entries may be collected after prize giving Saturday 17th November 2018 3. Judging commencing 9.30 am Friday 16th November 2018 4. Where points are given, points to count as follows; 1 st 3 points, 2 nd 2 points, 3 rd 1 point, Premier bloom 3 points, Special prize 1 point. 5. In the event of a tie for Points Prize most 1st prizes to count. 6. Committee reserves the right to substitute product prizes of similar value for cash. 7. All entries judged at discretion of the judge. 8. All prize money and entry fees inclusive of GST. 9. If 3 entries or less in a class only one prize will be paid, this may be first or second. 10. Prize Money will be paid by the Stewards Sunday from 12 4pm, Edna Wills Hall 11. All prize money will be forfeited if not collected by 29 th November 2018. 12. Trophies and prizes will be awarded at 3pm on Saturday in the Edna Wills Hall. 13. The engraving is the responsibility of the person receiving the cup. 14. Definition of an amateur, one who does not make a living from a particular work. 15. The Egmont A&P Association reserves the right to use photographs and/or film footage taken at the event for promotional purposes as it sees fit.
Rose Section Rules 1. Decorative Blooms Should be between one quarter and half open with gracefully arranged, well formed petals producing a bloom of more slender proportions than Exhibition Blooms, judged in the order of form, freshness, balance and foliage. 2. Exhibition Blooms Should be between half and three quarters open, of good size, with ample petals symmetrically arranged within a circular outline around a well formed centre, judged in the order of form, freshness, balance and foliage. 3. Stem of Roses Should have well spaced, gracefully arranged flowers with side buds. Judged in the order of form, freshness, balance and foliage. The type of flower is not taken into consideration. 4. Display All roses to be displayed in vases provided. 5. Exhibits are required to be named name tags will be supplied. 6. Exhibitors should make sure that the stem has flowers open. Buds on stem not open do not constitute flowers to be classified as flowers. The sepal must be down and one petal unfurled. 7. Where a bloom is required this is a single flower with no side buds if it has side buds then it becomes a stem. Side buds in bloom classes should be carefully removed leaving only the bloom.
