data sheet Danfoss prefabricated floorheatingunit Type FH-G/FH-GS//S Application The Danfoss prefabricated underfloorheating (UFH) unit for distribution of heating and domestic water is primarily designed for wall mounted oil- and gas boilers and district heating substations. This ensures a uniform and correct installation every time you are using Danfoss UFH units. There are 4 basic unit types, which are being tailor-made to each project. The UFH units are composed with manifolds for domestic cold and hot water, UFH and radiator, if needed. FH-G The wireless Danfoss CF2-system is standard and there are a couple of accessories. The UFH unit can optional be delivered prewired. In the beginning of building the unit is being mounted on the wall or the base. There s designed a special base fixture as accessory. The tubes for domestic cold and hot water, UFH and radiators can now be connected to the unit and after the roof and windows are finished and the building is safe, the installer can connect the unit to the central heating system. FH-GS The compact UFH-unit can in most cases placed in a 60 cm cupboard. It is afterwards easy to service the unit because the simple design gives a good overview of the whole installation. The units FH-GS and S have a built-in mixing shunt with a electronic variable speed pump, which is adjusting itself for correct flow in the circuits. A FTC-regulator ensures the correct mix so that the desired supply temperature to the underfloor heating system always remains constant. Floor heating control system The UFH-units are as standard delivered with Danfoss wireless CF2 Floor heating system and TWA-actuators NC. The room thermostats have to be ordered separately. The units can be equipped with a wired Danfoss Floor heating system on demand. For additional data please see separate datasheet for the product. A special designed socket for the CF2-controller, is being delivered with the system and can easily be fixed on the unit without tools. Electrical connection All units can optinal be ordered electrical prewired. VD.UM.E2.02 Produced by Danfoss Floor Heating Hydronics 01.2006
AT-thermostat The AT safety thermostat is fixed on the tube and protects the floor and the system against too high temperatures, especially when wooden floor is used. The electrical installation has to be done by authorized people only (230 V DC). The AT-thermostat switches off the power supply of the floor heating base unit when the temperature reaches the presetting temperature. This temperature should be set at about 5 to 10 C higher than the flow temperature in the mixing shunt. By switching off the power supply of the underfloor heating base unit the actuators (NC) will close automatically and the floor heating system is protected. Internal ground terminal screw in the base M3.5. Alternatively, plug connection (AMP). Electrical connection, M3.5 screw terminals or plug (AMP). Manifold Connection Manifolds for domestic hot and cold water and radiators have standard compression fittings for Pex-tube 15 2 mm. UFH-manifold with standard compression fittings for Pex-tube 20 2 mm. Compression fittings for other tube material on demand. Please contact Danfoss. Capacity/commissioning The pre-setting of the manifold valves determines the flow in the floor heating tubes and is therefore an important factor for obtaining optimal hydraulic balance in the system. A correct hydraulic balance is important if optimal comfort shall be achieved with a minimum of energy consumption and is easily carried out following the example shown below. Room 1 Example 1 Determine longest tube/largest room 25 m 2 2 Desired cooling (dt) 5 C (typical) 3 Determine heat requirement for the room 50 W/m 2 4 Conversion factor 1,16 5 Calculation of flow for the room 50 W/m 2 25 m 2 Q (l/h) = 5 C 1,16 Room 2 6 Determine area for the next room 15 m 2 7 Calculation of flow for the room (dt and heat requirement is assumed identical for the rooms in this case) Q (l/h) = Q (l/h) = 50 W/m 2 15 m 2 5 C 1,16 129 l/h Pre-setting for manifold with flowmeter: Room 1 N Room 2 5 4 VD.UM.E2.02 Produced by Danfoss Floor Heating Hydronics 01.2006
Pre-setting for manifold without flowmeter: Room 1 N Room 2 6 Pre-setting the manifold valves The diagrams shows the capacities for each heating circuit at different pre-settings of the manifold valves. Please note that the capacities are slightly different depending on whether a manifold with flowmeter or a manifold without flowmeter has been chosen. Based on the above calculations and capacity diagrams each manifold valve is preset by rotating the red ring until the correct value on the ring is in-line with the sight mark on the valve. FTC/RA-C FTC is used for flow temperature control of floor heating and radiator heating systems. FTC is a self-acting thermostatic sensor, and is combined with a 2-way valve type RA-C. The water temperature is measured by a surface sensor, which is mounted on the pipe. The snap-lock connector of the sensor element secures a firm connection to the valve. Pre-setting the RA-C valve RA-C 15 Base fixture: If there is no wall yet in the beginning of building the unit can be fixed on the base using the special designed base fixture FH-TB. The fixture is temporary and can be removed when the building is safe and the unit is mounted on the wall.
