TECOM SYSTEMS NETWORK MASTER The Tecom Network Master is a cost effective, Dialler Receiver and Direct Line Network Master combined in a single modular unit. HARDWARE The unit consists of a 3RU, 19 inch Rack-mount panel with provision for 13 Eurocard modules. The Eurocard modules are 1 Network Master CPU card and up to 12 Network Master Line Cards. The rack is powered from a separate 12V power supply @ 150mA per Card. (i.e. 2A max.) Connections for Telecom lines and all external equipment are provided on the Backplane. CPU CARD The CPU card is the central controller which processes Line card information and provides RS232 interface ports for Host Computer, VDU terminal and Printer. CARDS The Line cards can be programmed to communicate in either Dialler or Direct Line mode. A maximum of 8 cards can be configured for Direct Line mode. The Line cards support the following formats: TECOM dial up TECOM direct line (with Encryption) ADEMCO High Speed ADEMCO High Speed Checksummed ADEMCO High Speed Extended ADEMCO High Speed Extended Checksummed ADEMCO 4 + 2 Checksummed ADEMCO Contact Point ID Checksummed SYSTEM CONFIGURATION System options, Time and date and Line card options can all be programmed by the operator using the "System Configuration" function. A password must be used to gain access to the System Configuration menu. March 1995 Page 1
TECOM SYSTEMS NETWORK MASTER DIRECT MODE In Direct Line mode each Line card functions as a Multi-drop Network and can therefore accomodate up to 10 Alarm panels or Network Concentrator Links. The Direct Line communications link between the Network Master and the Alarm Panels is fully encrypted using Computational algorithms for added security. The operator can recall the status of a Challenger Alarm panel by selecting any one of 8 Panel recall options:- Summary Status - Provides summary of Alarm, Tamper, Isolated and Unsealed inputs. Area Status - Areas armed or disarmed. Alarm Inputs Unsealed Inputs Tamper Inputs RAS Status (on/off line) Isolated Inputs DGP Status (on/off line) The operator can also use the following Network commands to perform functions on the Challenger Alarm panel:- Access Area Isolate Input Secure Area De-isolate Input Reset Input Other system commands available to the operator are:- Activate Panel - to bring panel on-line. Loop Line - to enable testing of line. Program Key - for encryption key. Dial Number - for dialler back up when Direct line fails. DIALLER MODE In Dialler mode the Line card is automatically able to sense the data format being received. Therefore, any Dialler Line card in the system is able to receive on the Tecom format or any of the Ademco formats available. Data received in any of the formats is processed and converted to Contact ID messages for the Host Computer. The Line cards are able to test the lines that they are monitoring. FRONT PANEL INDICATIONS Front panel indication via LEDs on the cards is provided to indicate system and line status. System LEDs on the CPU card indicate:-power OK -Computer OK -Printer OK -Buffer OK LEDs on the Line cards indicate: -Ring/On line -Data Received -Line Enabled -Line OK March 1995 Page 2
HOST COMPUTER TECOM SYSTEMS NETWORK MASTER Interfacing to the Host computer is via an RS232 port on the rear of the Network Master, using Contact ID format. The baud rate for comms between the Network Master and computer is selectable. VDU A VDU terminal can be connected to the Network Master via an RS232 port on the rear of the unit also. The VDU port is enabled if the computer is off-line, or is not connected, in order to action alarms if required. PRINTER A local printer can be connected to another RS232 port on the rear of the unit to log events. The printer port can be enabled and disabled from the Host Computer or VDU terminal. NETWORK LINK The Network Concentrator Link is a fully self contained unit providing 4 lines for expansion of the Direct Line Network. The link communicates with the Line Cards in Direct Line mode via the "Uplink" socket, or in Dialler mode via the "Phone" socket. i.e. In the event of a Direct Line failure between the Network Master and the Concentrator Link, a Dialler backup can be provided. A Concentrator link provides 4 Direct Lines which can each support 10 more Concentrator Links or Direct Line Challenger panels. Hardware: The unit is supplied in a metal enclosure 520x260x82mm with space provided for a 6.5AH Sealed Lead Acid battery. Front and rear tamper switches are fitted to the enclosure. Power Supply: The unit is powered by the AC Plug pack supplied. The on-board power supply has provision connection of the battery. Alarm Inputs: Two alarm inputs are provided on the board for connection to the tamper switches and PIRs as required at the installation. A third alarm input is provided for a keyswitch input for arming and disarming of the alarms. DDS Uplink: An RS232 port is provided for connection to a Data Digital Service uplink which can be used in place of the normal "Uplink" or "Phone" socket. Comms: An RS485 Comms port is provided for local connection to Network Concentrator sub-links, avoiding the need for a line connection. March 1995 Page 3
