Application Features Orientation of the pump Safety issues The Single Diaphragm Dosing Pump is designed for Edge cleaning with solvents for CD-R, CDR-DVD-R and DVD-RW production. Application of protective coating for CD and DVD. Bonding DVD Application of photo resist coating for semiconductor production. To serve the application the pump has the following features: The pump handles a wide range of media viscosity. Very compact assembly saving space. Pressure-time controlled dispensing. Suck back valve at the outlet. All parts in contact with the medium are made of highly resistant materials. The pump can easily be disconnected for cleaning. The outlet of the pump must be on top. The pump must not be set up upside-down. Caution Injuries by medium splashing into your face When the pump is opened or tubing removed the fluid may still be under pressure. Always wear protective goggles when removing tubing from the pump or opening it for cleaning. Injuries from pumped mediums and solvents Pumped mediums used for cleaning the pump may harm the skin. Always wear protective gloves when opening and / or cleaning the pump. www.sawatec.com 3 MA-SP-177 en v3.0 2010-07-06

Viscous samples require special consideration. There are several separate issues, and these apply whether one desires to measure interfacial tension or contact angles. Viscosity is measured in milli Pascal seconds (mpa s) which is numerical identical to centi Poise (cp). Water has a nominal viscosity of 1cp or 1mPa s. Viscosity is a strong function of temperature, dropping rapidly as temperature rises. A good source of reference values for viscosity is the CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics (www.crcpress.com). Standards The Single Diaphragm Dosing Pump uses only DIN-CE certified elements. All elements specifically machined for the product are made of DIN-CE certified materials. www.sawatec.com 4 MA-SP-177 en v3.0 2010-07-06

Cleaning Rinsing Rinsing of the pump is required in the following cases: The laquer (or other medium) to be pumped is changed. The pump will not be used for a shorter time. Rinsing the pump 1 Disconnect the pump from the ordinary supply. 2 Provide sufficient amount of solvent at the intake. The type of solvent depends on the pumped medium. 3 Purge the pump with large volume and large intervalls. Note: The solvent can be left in the pump, if it is unused for longer time. However, the solvent must be removed with the first cycles of again usage. Cleaning and drying The pump must be disassembled, cleaned an dried in the following cases: The pump is not used for a longer time. The pump shall be stored away. Cleaning 1 Disassemble the pump according to the diagram. 2 Wash alll parts with appropriate solvent. The type of solvent depends on the pumped medium. 3 Dry the parts with compressed air. 4 Assemble the pump again.
