Vertical Blind Installation Instructions ucontact@udoblinds.com 1-855-205-8442 Congratulations on purchasing vertical blinds from Follow these instructions to properly install your blinds. Tools You Need Before you begin the installation process, gather the following tools and keep them handy: Screwdriver Tape measure Pencil Drill Screwdriver Fasteners After you ve collected your tools, you re ready to begin the installation process. Step 1: Choose the Correct Fasteners for Your Blinds Wood Installation If you re installing your vertical blinds in wood, use the included 1 1/2 #8 hex head wood screws (included). Aluminum or Concrete Installation If you re installing your vertical blinds in aluminum or concrete, use alternative fasteners such as those displayed in the picture below (fasteners not included). Page 1

Step 2: Install the Brackets Outside Mount Installation Fig. A Blinds configured for outside mounts come with standard adjustable wall mount installation brackets, which are designed to provide 1/2 to 1 1/2 wall clearance. To determine the height for the top of the brackets as measured from the floor, add 1/2 to the blind height, including the head rail. Remember that once installed, the louvers will clear the floor by 1/2. Place the first bracket directly over the corner of the window or door and maintain a maximum space of 30 between each bracket. Then, adjust the brackets so that louvers have clearance over all obstacles. Outside mount brackets are installed with white valance clips and can be installed after bracket installation. Inside Mount Installation Fig. B or C (Inside mounting valance must be installed with brackets see below) To install brackets for inside mount blinds, use mounting clips to secure the head rail on either the ceiling or inside mounts. The center of the mounting clips should align with the center of the louver carrier stem. Then, position the screws a minimum distance of 2 1/4 in front of the window frame or any projection for sufficient clearance. Installing the valance for an inside mount vertical must be done when mounting the brackets inside the window. You will have to drill a hole through the valance and center it with the bracket that is going to be installed inside the window. The valance goes up before the track is put into the brackets. When setting the mounting clips, place them a maximum distance of 30 apart from each other and allow a minimum amount of 1/2 clearance above the window sill or carpet to avoid the blinds dragging. Step 3: Install the Headrail To install the head rail, mount the installation brackets and then snap them in place as shown in the picture below. To remove the head rail, use a screwdriver to push up on the release lip. Step 4: Install the Louver To install the louver, push it up into the carrier stem, then gently pull straight down to lock it into place. Step 5: Test the Rotation To test the rotation of the louvers, pull the metal bead chain once in each direction while rotating the louvers from front to back. Doing this will help align all of the louvers for future use. Page 4

Step 6: Test the Traverse To test the traverse of the blinds, alternate pulling the nylon cords to make sure the blinds move smoothly in both directions. Note: Never traverse the blind when the louvers are locked in the closed position. Valance Installation Instructions To install the valance on ceiling and inside mounted blinds, install the headrail bracket clip through the valance as shown in the picture. Make sure the louvers don t touch the valance after you ve installed the valance. To install the valance on outside mounted blinds, snap the included small plastic clips into place on the aluminum headrail. Then, slide the top dust cover of the valance into the plastic valance clips until they lock into place. Page 5

Valance Returns Installation Instructions Valances feature two types of returns: square snap in corner returns or round corner returns. Round corner valance returns are preassembled, while square corner valance returns require assembly. To install square corner valance returns, slide the clear plastic corner clip onto the top edge of the valance as shown in the picture below. Then, slide the valance return into the other side of the corner clip. If your valance returns are too long, trim them with heavy duty scissors to fit your blinds. Tips for Operating Your New Vertical Blinds After purchasing your new vertical blinds from, you may have questions about how to properly use them. Read these tips to better understand how to operate your blinds and keep them working problem-free for years to come. Cord and Chain Control To rotate the louvers, simply pull on the metal bead chain. To traverse the louvers, pull on the nylon cord. Make sure the louvers are rotated in the open position before pulling on the cord to draw them across the window opening to prevent damage to the blinds. If the louvers become tangled or become misaligned over time, re-adjust them by manually moving the louvers with your hand until they re all facing the same direction. Once you ve made sure the louvers are all aligned, pull the metal bead chain until your hear a grinding sound then, give the chain another slight tug. This will re-align the louver carriers. Once you pull the chain in the opposite direction, all of the vanes will also be aligned correctly. Wand Control The wand allows you to control many aspects of your vertical blinds. To rotate the louvers, rotate the wand in the same direction that you want them to open. To traverse the louvers across the window or door, rotate them into the open position and push or pull on the wand in the desired direction. If your louvers are installed with their fronts facing the wand, remember that the wand will always be in front of them when the blinds are rotated closed. But if the louvers are installed with the back of the louvers facing the wand, the wand will be in the back of the louvers when the blinds are rotated closed. Page 6
