Why Do We Offer Energy Efficiency Programs? Columbia Gas has offered Energy Efficiency services since the 1980s (DSM or Partners in Energy) Environmental responsibility is key to becoming a premier energy company it s the right thing to do Customer satisfaction Help customers save energy and money Improve comfort in homes and commercial buildings Required by MA statute MA Green Communities Act signed July 2, 2008 Since 2009, gas and electric companies in MA have been required to offer more comprehensive Energy Efficiency programs 3 Year Plan with the DPU, budget and savings goals A usage-based charge is applied to every utility bill and this funds the Energy Efficiency programs 4
What is Mass Save? A collaborative sponsored by Massachusetts gas and electric utilities and energy efficiency service providers Contributing sponsors include Berkshire Gas, Cape Light Compact, Columbia Gas of MA, Eversource, Liberty Utilities, National Grid, and Unitil CMA works closely with other utility companies so customers anywhere in the state have the same opportunity and benefits www.masssave.com or 866-527-SAVE(7283) 5
C&I EE Program Breakdown Customers are served based on annual therm consumption Small customers (less than 40k therms) Medium customers (40k to 250k therms) Large customers (over 250k therms) Energy assessments and whole building studies We share the cost with the customer and sometimes the electric PA Incentives for approved Energy Efficiency measures Measures are screened through a Benefit Cost calculation We offer a customized package of incentives Zero percent financing Up to $500,000 6
Zero Percent Financing Interest-Free Loans from $5,000 to $500,000 Interest payments buy-down pre-paid by Program Administrator utilizing the rebate to bring the interest down to zero (or near-zero). Up to 7 year terms Subject to Third Party Approval Link: https://www.masssave.com/en/learn/business/the-mass-savefinancing-for-business-program/ 7

Upstream Rebates CMA trying out for Water Heaters only Distributors are incentivized to stock and market energy efficient products Marketing program to allow more customers access to rebates Downsides: exact rebate value not transparent to customers (CMA is working on a solution that is planned to be enacted June 1 st including customer portion on distributor sales invoices), high administrative processing costs, greater likelihood of freeridership Web Link with details and requirements: https://www.masssave.com/en/saving/business-rebates/commercial-waterheaters/ 25
