Page 2 News from the UCF Arboretum Volume 2, Issue 13 We ll miss you, Martin! Martin Haux was born and raised in former West Germany, where he obtained a degree in Ornamental Horticulture. His work in Germany focused on hydroponics, interiorscaping, greenhouse production, and propagation of trees, per- ennials, annuals and vegetables. Martin began at the UCF Arboretum in April 2008 as a Greenhouse Manager and quickly became an integral part of the team, bringing his botanical knowledge, horticultural expertise, and enthusi- asm. Martin oversaw daily landscape operations including planning, designing and implementing campus landscapes, including some interiorscapes, while working alongside hundreds of Arboretum and Landscape & Natural Re- sources volunteers. Martin Haux passed away Friday March 1st, 2013. He was a dear friend, and a creative and dependa- ble coworker who always kept everyone laughing. He will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and con- dolences go out to his wife and family. UCF s Adopt-a-Pond and Adopt-a-Road programs engage multiple student organizations in helping to keep UCF beautiful, and protect our campus natural resources. Listed here are ponds and roads currently available for adoption. Participating organizations are expected to clean their pond or road twice monthly to receive and maintain a sign indicating the groups participation at that location. If you have a group that is interested in adopting a pond/road please email arboretum@ucf.edu for more info. Thank you for
