With Passion in the Market! Preface With passion in the market means, just as in a family, to regard others, respect feelings, respond to particularities and, last but not least, stand together for better or worse. However, success does not come by itself but is the result of performance and high quality, for which all employees of our enterprise are responsible. Highly motivated and qualified employees are therefore our greatest capital. This is complemented by modern methods and proven manufacturing processes. Ralf Kuhlmann Manager Besides the most modern test equipment for research and development, cooperation with leading universities and technical laboratories is available. However, good technologies have a history and are hence no coincidence. They are in fact the sum of long-term experience and ongoing research. Our flexibility and adaptiveness made us a reliable partner, competent system provider and future-oriented developer. With the inclusion of decentralized extraction systems, LET meschede now makes the competence, which was gained in the manufacture of filtration equipment during a quarter of a century, available for a completely new market segment. The new decentralized extraction systems will show you, our customer we are with passion in the market.

We make your dust to our passion! LET in a nutshell For more than a quarter of a century LET meschede has been a successful manufacturer and developer in the domain of extraction and filtration technology. At our plant in Meschede, Sauerland, 50 employees work on the development and implementation of customised and market-conform filtration solutions Made in Germany. The service spectrum includes planning, manufacture, installation and start-up of complete process engineering solutions, service and maintenance of ventilation systems. Since 2006 LET meschede has been developing and manufacturing compact decentralized extraction systems as series and small series products in cooperation with machine manufacturers of all processing areas. We look beyond the obvious and consider the procedure technical environment to provide our customers with the most efficient filtration solution. In 2009 we started to develop and manufacture movable grinding and extraction cabins with integrated filter systems for the energy and aerospace industries. 2015, the new company name LET Meschede GmbH was created from the brand name LET meschede. The innovative power of our company serves the continually increasing requirements of green technologies and occupational health and safety, machine and plant protection.

Fire protection / explosion protection Fire detection / extinguishing systems According to statements of fire protection manufacturers, daily at least one extraction or dust separation plant in Germany is on fire. These incidents cause significant economic loss. The plant operator is responsible for the safety of the plant. How can such dust explosion occur? Mixtures of dust and air are explosive, when the dust consists of flammable materials, such as coal, flour, wood, starch or cellulose. Even inorganic substances, such as magnesium, aluminum, iron and steel are explosive or at least flammable in this state. Besides flammability the small particle size of the dust is an important factor, since the explosive effects increase with decreasing particle size. If in these cases a flammable dust-air mixture with sufficient oxygen and a potent ignition source are available at the same time, there is danger of explosion. Ignition sources: Hot surfaces (grinder, mixer, fan) Mechanical sparks (rubbing, grinding, hitting) Electrical equipment Electrical sparks Electrostatic discharges (cone, brush etc.)

Fire protection / explosion protection Fire detection / extinguishing systems LET meschede fire detection and extinguishing systems takes into account: Fire emergence hazards Fire detection Fire alarm Fire spread Fire fighting Benefits of our fire detection and extinguishing systems: Preventive fire protection High operational safety Fast fire detection Alarm relay to operating staff or fire department Fast insertion of extinguishing agent in protected area No damage by fire fighting water Fast operational readiness of the entire plant reduced production downtime No disposal costs for the extinguishing agent Easy retrofitting in existing plant No static problems as with fire fighting with water. With fire protection and extinguishing systems from LET meschede you gain reliability of the production process, supply availability and hence your competitiveness.

Fire protection / explosion protection ATEX directive A variety of standards and directives ensures that the danger of explosion is minimized. On 1 July 2003 the various national explosion protection directives were harmonized Europe-wide. ATEX 95 (short for ATmosphère EXplosible) specifies product requirements and targets mainly manufacturers. The directive applies to all electrical equipment, protection systems and their components, which are within a potentially explosive atmosphere. The following obligations result for the manufacturers: Risk assessment of products Categorization in device categories Specification of intended use and operating conditions ATEX 137 describes workplace requirements and is relevant for plant operators. It addresses the operational industrial safety and was nationally implemented with the operational safety directive. It primarily imposes the following obligations on employers: Identification of explosive dust parameters Zoning according to risk of explosion Marking of explosive areas Identification of protective measures and operating instructions for employees

Fire protection / explosion protection For all reactive dust types investment in explosion-protected systems engineering under economic aspects and consideration of risk analyses and feasibility studies is regulated by law. Which possible solution applies in the concrete application must be determined on site. Planning steps Risk analyses Feasibility studies Economic aspects Integrated concept (globale system solutions) photo: DMT Dortmund photo: LET meschede

Fire protection / explosion protection Protective measures Primary protective measures Sufficient ventilation Concentration control (observe UEG/OEG) Replace medium with non-flammable one Vacuum Secondary protective measures Prevent ignition sources Hot surfaces, Open flames, Mechanically generated sparks, Stray electric currents, Lightning etc. Structural preventive measures according to DIN EN 14034 determination of explosion characteristics of dust clouds protective measures Pressure-discharging building design according to DIN EN 14491 Maximum explosion pressure rise resistant building design according to DIN EN 14034 Pressure-resistant building design according to DIN EN 14034 Inhibiting building design according to DIN EN 14034 Wet separation of dust by dampening in wet separator Solid matter neutralization by addition of inert dust, e.g. rock salt or sodium sulfate

Fire protection / explosion protection Explosion-proof filter systems If an explosion or ignition sources can not prevented, the following protection measures should be taken: explosion resistant construction explosion pressure-shock resistant construction explosion-suppressing construction
