2 CFPA Europe The Confederation of Fire Protection Associations Europe (CFPA-Europe) is an association of national organizations in Europe primarily concerned with: fire prevention & protection safety & security natural hazards and other associated risks

3 History of CFPA Europe CFPA Europe was founded in the early seventies by several Fire Protection Associations from Europe, first mainly for exchange of information, later cooperation in training concepts and the elaboration of European Fire Protection recommendations (Guidelines) Not for profit organizations

4 Background CFPA-E links nationally recognized fire protection, safety & security organizations in 18 European countries was founded in 1974 work is based on the extensive resources of its members

5 Objectives of CFPA Europe To advance the knowledge and the understanding of matters relating to fire science, fire prevention & protection, safety & security, natural hazards and other associated risks To encourage the exchange of information in relation with protection of life and property To facilitate co-operation between members for undertaking joint programs To foster the development of fire protection organizations in new countries

7 Resources The Confederation has extensive resources within its members, and they include engineers and technicians with competencies in various fields such as: fire prevention safety security prevention arson environmental problems natural hazards facilities and skills in education and training testing / laboratories inspection and audit services.

8 Training and education Our aim is to raise the level of public and commercial awareness for risks in safety & security The national associations offer harmonized training courses The award of the CFPA Europe Diploma is recognized across the continent

10 Cooperation on Guidelines Nordic FPA meeting year 2000 They decided to cooperate and produce Fire Safety Guidelines together Idea was presented at CFPA E s General Assembly 2001 After discussion all members asked the Nordic countries to do the work in the whole CFPA E A Commission for Fire Safety Guidelines was form and the first meeting September 2001 in Sweden First ratified Guideline in the autumn 2002 Year 2005 started work with Security In 2011 started work with Natural Hazards
