THE STUDENT SHOULD WORK UNASSISTED. Additional information regarding simulation execution and scoring attached. 1 2 Caution Wet Floor Sign Placed Appropriately Mop Wrung Out Correctly Scoring 5 -Sign placed at or near restroom doorway or in front of stall before mopping 4 - Sign placed in restroom but at some distance from stall or sign placed correctly after mopping 3 - Sign brought into stall while mopping but placed outside when done 2 - Sign brought into stall and left there after finishing mopping 1 - Asked judge where to place sign 0 -Did not place sign 5 - Mop removed from water, placed in wringer and wringer properly operated leaving mop damp but not dripping 4 - Mop removed from water, placed in wringer and wringer operated but mop retains enough water to drip when removed from wringer 3 -Mop removed from water, placed in wringer but wringer not properly operated leaving substantial water in mop 2 - Mop removed from water, placed in wringer basket but not wrung out. 1 - Mop removed from water, wrung out and then placed back in water before mopping. 0 -Mop not wrung out 3 Mopping Technique 5 - Starts mopping at baseboard, mops under or around toilet then mops in a side to side motion backing out of stall while mopping 4 - Starts mopping at baseboard, but then mops in a more random manner (moving forward and backwards) but not missing any areas of floor. 3 -Doesn't start mopping from baseboards but in a random manner completes mopping only missing small areas of floor. 2 - Stands in stall, mopping around him or herself with the result of having to walk across mopped area to exit stall. 1 -Mops in random manner either from inside or outside of stall missing much of floor. 0 - Fails to demonstrate mopping.
Custodial Score Sheet 2/2 4 Squirts Only 3 Times on Mirror Scoring 5 - Squirts window cleaner three times in marked area of mirror 4 - Squirts less than three times or four or five times in marked area of mirror 3 - Squirts six times or more in marked area of mirror 2 - Squirts outside of marked area on mirror excluding small amounts of over spray 1 - Squirts outside marked area or re-squirts after completing event 5 and starts event 5 again.. 0 - Fails to demonstrate squirting of window spray 5 4 3 1 0 ' 5 Mirror is free of streaks, smears and fingerprints. 5 - Wipes mirror in an efficient manner with minimum of repeat wiping leaving no streaks or smudges. Checks for streaks or smudges when complete. 4 -Wipes mirror in a less than efficient manner with unnecessary repeat wiping but still leaving no streaks or smudges 3 -Wipes mirror in either efficient or inefficient manner but leaves streaks or smudges. 2 -Wipes mirror in either efficient or inefficient manner but does not remove all window cleaning spray or repeats Event 4 and then Repeats Event 5. 1 -Wipes mirror without applying window cleaner. 0 - Fails to demonstrate cleaning of mirror. 6 Vacuumed up all oatmeal 5 - Quickly and efficiently removes all oatmeal without extra movement of vacuum across designated area. Turns off vacuum cleaner and puts in upright position when done. 4 -Removes all oatmeal from the designated area but makes unnecessary movement of vacuum across the area i.e. continues to vacuum after all oatmeal is removed. Turns off vacuum and puts in upright position when done. 3 - Quickly and efficiently removes all but four to six oatmeal flakes from designated area. Turns off vacuum and puts in upright position when done. 2 - Leaves seven to ten oatmeal flakes from designated area. Turns off vacuum and put in upright position when done. 1 -Leaves more than ten oatmeal flakes in designated area and/or fails to turn off vacuum and put in upright position. 0 - Fails to demonstrate vacuuming.

Custodial Judging Guidelines 1 2 3 4 Event Criteria Caution Wet Floor Sign Placed Placement of the warning sign is required to advise restroom users of the Appropriately. hazard of a wet floor. Acceptable placement of the sign is either at the restroom entrance or at front of the stall where the mopping demonstration A yellow warning sign or cone is provided. occurs. Student should place sign in proper spot prior to demonstrating mopping technique. Student may bring mop bucket and sign into restroom together or may place sign first and bring mop and then bucket in Mop Wrung Out Correctly Proper wringing technique is required so the minimum amount of water is Mop bucket with an integrated or used for proper damp mopping. Mop will be in water in the bucket when the attached wringing device for removing student starts excess water from the provided Mop will be removed from water and placed in janitorial mop is provided. Mop bucket wringer device attached to bucket will have 8 to 10 inches of clear water. Wringer lever will be depressed fully until very little water is dripping from mop. Repeating this is acceptable. Mopping Technique Proper mopping technique is required to remove any spots, dirt or The floor of handicapped restroom stall, streaks from the floor in an efficient manner about 6' x 6' will be damp mopped using Student will start mopping from the baseboards and work backwards proper technique out of the stall moving the mop from side to side including floor under toilet if attached to wall. Squirts Only 3 Times on Mirror An area of about 3' x 3' will be taped off on the mirror for demonstration of proper window cleaning technique. Windex type cleaner in spray bottle provided. Three squirts of window cleaner is sufficient for efficiently cleaning the portion of the mirror in the competition. 5 Mirror is Free of Streaks, Smears and Fingerprints Clean cloth towels are provided for demonstrating proper window washing technique. Student efficiently dries mirror using side to side, up and down or circular motion. No window cleaner will remain on mirror and it will be streak, smear and fingerprint free when the students states he or she is done.
6 Vacuumed Up All Oatmeal A 4ft x 6ft area of carpet or carpet runner of similar size shall have about ¼ cup of quick cooking oatmeal distributed in an even manner. An upright commercial model vacuum cleaner will be provided. Vacuum cleaner will be plugged in. If necessary judge may demonstrate power switch and release mechanism to student. Proper vacuuming technique is required to assure complete removal of simulated dirt (oatmeal) from the designated area. Student will operate vacuum by moving backward and forward across the designated area in a manner so that all oatmeal is removed in a timely manner. Pattern of vacuuming may be sweeps in the same direction, sweeps in a perpendicular manner or in a random manner. Student will turn off vacuum cleaner, return to upright position when finished.
