Position Task Book Summary In the Department instituted a series of on the Job Training Task books to ensure that all department personnel have met certain minimum qualifications for each job regardless of state certification. This indicates that there is a basic standard of safe and efficient training in an environment where full-time jobs may hinder rapid completion of Firefighter Certification. Install flashlight mount/charger Install Dash Camera PUBLIC OUTREACH In the month of September, the Uintah City Fire Department continued to maintain its customer base within its social media channels. Not only is it vital to maintain a positive image in public service, it is crucial to maintain it along with a professional reputation both online and in person. P a g e

Utah Followers by County Figure - Utah Followers by County In the month of September the social media strategy was highlighting FEMA s September National Preparedness Campaign. This yearly campaign served, as a reminder that we all must take action to prepare, now and throughout the year, for the types of emergencies that could affect us where we live and work, Piggy backing off last years theme, Don t Wait, Communicate. Make Your Emergency Plan Today, this September continued an emphasis on preparedness for youth, older adults, and people with disabilities. During the month of September Station construction was completed. Although a construction company may have built the walls of the station what was not visible to the public was the countless hours put in from the department staff from Chief Pope down to friends and family of firefighters to move out and then move back in all of the department belongings. Once that was complete then there were the hours put in for finishing touches and cleaning. A great amount of commitment, dedication and pride has made that station into what it is today. The Uintah City Fire Department was honored to host Governor Gary Herbert, the Uintah City Council and Dixon Pitcher to the new station for a tour. It was with a great sense of pride we were able to show each elected official representing Uintah City where Engine 9 and the Uintah City Fire Department calls home. P a g e

In partnership with the American Red Cross, the Uintah City Fire Department is still offering FREE smoke detectors.. If a Uintah resident does not have working smoke alarms they can contact the Fire Department to set up an appointment for us to install FREE smoke detector in their homes. Along with completing the finishing touches of the fire station, nearly the entire department is either teaching classes or attending classes. Firefighters are enrolled in EMR (Emergency Medical Responder), EMT, and Advanced EMT while many of the officers are teaching the class. This is above and beyond weekly training and their full time jobs and school. Weber County experienced a Tornado pattern in September. Something that not many ever thought they would see in our area. Many homes were destroyed, and even more damaged. Power outages lasted more than four days for some. People commented it was too close for comfort. If anything was a wake up call to be prepared for a disaster our little tornado was it. A message resonated with many people and victims, and that was We never thought that could happen here. The department is continuing to build a CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) Program for the city of Uintah. The CERT program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help. CERT members also are encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in their community. there's no harm in hoping for the best as long as you're prepared for the worst.
