HISTORY After working for many years on various interior projects and accumulating an array of life experiences both in Australia and abroad, Will Marx formed MARXCRAFT in 2001. When I started, out my goal was to make quality hand-made furniture, nearly ten years down the road we have achieved that and so much more. Will Marx Today MARXCRAFT has a network of clients, craftspeople and suppliers delivering a range of contemporary custom furniture and luxury interior products. PEOPLE MARXCRAFT founder and Managing Director, Will Marx has over 20 years experience in furniture making, interior fit-out and management in Australia and overseas. MARXCRAFT has assembled a diverse and skilled team of designers, craftsmen and managers. In house experience includes furniture and interior design, solid timber forming and finishing, high-end cabinetry, quality polishing, CAD design, project management and administration. Management is closely bound to the workshop floor hence every member of the team is engaged in and understands the work at hand. The person who designs your piece of furniture is involved in making that piece of furniture; our passionate team care about the products that we produce and the people we serve. We understand that suppliers and sub contractors are also members of our team. Transport providers, wood-turners, stone masons, electricians, glaziers and welders all supply services and components used in our furniture, this reality impacts directly on our clients. In response, MARXCRAFT has built relationships with a broad network of reputable furniture industry suppliers ensuring quality, timely results for your project.
COMMISSIONING WHY COMMISSION A PIECE? MARXCRAFT is a custom furniture design and manufacturing business. This means that we are able to conceive, design and build any furniture product that your home may require. If you have a furniture situation in your home or office that you are unable to resolve through purchasing a retail product, maybe it s time to consider commissioning a custom solution. MARXCRAFT is able to assess your problem and through consultation create a solution to suit your individual needs. Beside the practical factors of custom furniture, there are also emotive elements one should consider. Do you wish to express yourself in new ways, change your lifestyle, celebrate an event or create a special gift for someone? You can achieve this through commissioning a piece of fine custom furniture. The creative journey can be a pleasurable and rewarding experience. Talk to us about your desires. 3 SIMPLE STEPS Not every project is the same. This is the essence of custom furniture, so the process of designing and making a piece can vary client to client. MARXCRAFT employs a very flexible approach to the commissioning process, generally made up of 3 simple steps: Step 1 - CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT To fully understand your individual situation, we prefer to visit your home or office to understand the nature of, function and the environment the piece of furniture is intended for. Practical elements such as dimensions, materials, finish, budget and time frame are discussed and documented. This is a free, no obligation meeting designed to capture and quantify your creative vision. On completion of this meeting your designer is able to create a drawing, scope of works and calculate an estimate to complete the project as described. These documents are presented for your perusal and are open to discussion. Step 2 - DESIGN FINALISATION On approval of the design and acceptance of the trading terms, a deposit invoice will be issued for payment. On receipt of this invoice, your new piece of furniture is scheduled into MARXCRAFT s production and resolution of any design issues may be completed. Professional drawings, samples and models are created to fully resolve the nature of the piece before production commences. Finalising the design is an important collaborative process. To ensure customer satisfaction, no manufacture commences before the client has approved and signed off on the final design. In the event where the final design differs significantly from the original concept, an adjusted quotation for the works may be negotiated.
Step 3 - MAKING On finalisation of the design, purchasing for the piece commences; timbers are selected and prepared, hardware ordered and your cabinetmaker is assigned. Our skilled craftsmen then embark on turning your vision into reality; every step in the construction process is completed in close liaison with your designer. Our hands on approach to furniture production ensures the full intent of the design is captured to yield quality results.
