Technical Description 3.1 Design Between the hatch and casing is sealing material. Both hatch and casing have isolation material between metal sheets. 3.2 Specification The equipment is an axial fan with casing designed for use as an exhaust fan in high temperature emergency conditions. The product is not allowed to be used in normal ventilation. The fan is driven by an enclosure electric motor classified to F400(120) in accordance with EN1201-3. The hatch and fan are integrated to be one certified unit. Hatch is opened by 2 electrical motors, which are dimensioned to cover both snow and wind load. The fan itself should be started 30 seconds after the hatch motors have been started. 4 Product type SMHA Fan type: JMHT axial fan Class: F400(120) Notified body : VTT Expert Services, 0809 Certificate nr: 0809-CPD-0703 Temperature class: F400(120) Motor: F400(120) classified class H/class F motor for fan 2 pcs 230 V spindle motors

Transport 4.1 Transport inspection Check the fan immediately after you receive it and make sure that it has not been damaged during transport. If you discover any damage, get in touch with the transportation company without delay. Check the information on the fan rating plate. Proper procedures must be followed when transporting the product! Faulty conditions in transporting may result in serious damage on the product 4.2 Transport Safety The transport material is to be selected according to the packaging and the weight of the product. Loading must be carried out as instructed. 4.3 Intermediate Storage If the fan is to be stored before or in between uses, the following needs to be taken in account: Original packaging is to be used. If the storage conditions require it, additional protection may be added The hatch of the product must be closed during the storage. During long time storage indoor premises must be used. 6

- 5 Mounting Instructions 5.1 Installation of the Fan The fan can be installed directly on the roof or on to special fundament made for the fan. The maximum roof fall is 12. The fan is secured to a base by minimum 4 bolts, look picture. The base must be level and stable. Residual risk due to inappropriate behaviour or malfunction during operation cannot be completely excluded. The system planner or constructor must prevent the emergence of any hazardous situations through suitable safety measures. 7

.2 Fitting the Accessories The flashing (made of 4 different pieces) is fixed screws. Corners shall be sealed to avoid water leakage. 5.3 Safety Regulations In case, when the hatch is open and maintenance work for fan is done, there is a risk of fall through the fan opening, especially in case, when the fan is removed from it s place. The care shall be taken to prevent fall during the maintenance work. 5.4 Electrical Connections All electrical connections must be wired by authorised personnel only. The necessary electrical and safety precautions must be taken into account. The fan is equipped with 2 safety switches, one for the fan motor and one for the opening motors. Electrical connections shall be done as shown in picture. The hatch is equipped with switches showing, if the hatch is closed or open. Motor cable shall be fire proofed and bushing through the casing shall be sealed. Limit switch shall be used only for the indication of the hatch. Start signal for the motors shall be organised from separate system. Fan motor shall be started not earlier than 30 sec after hatch motors. 8

Commissioning 6.1 Preparation Open the hatch and connect the motor rods to fastenings. Connect the mains to motors to close the hatch. 6.2 Safety Checking Rotate the shaft and check that the impeller can move freely. Make sure that there are no foreign objects in the fan or in the ducting. Also check that there is no unusual noise in the fan. Check that the installation work has been carried out in accordance with the relevant regulations. All necessary protective devices must be installed. Check also, that there is big enough air flow to compensate fan air flow. Check, that all other regulations related to fire safety are followed. The fan may only be commissioned after all proper procedures have been followed and all necessary inspections have been carried out. 6.3 Test Run Briefly switch on the power supply to the motor to check whether the fan impeller rotates in the correct direction. If the impeller is rotating in the correct direction shown with the arrow, the fan may be switched on. Check that no abnormal mechanical sound and no surging occurs. 9

Maintenance 7.1 Warranty A precondition of the warranty is that regular maintenance has been carried out. Defects under warranty must immediately be notified to the manufacturer or the importer. The warranty does not cover service work or indirect damages. 7.2 Maintenance 7.2.1 Before maintenance Switch off the power supply to the fan and hatch motors at the safety isolating switches. The hatch is staying open, when the safety switch is turned off from mains. However, make sure, that hatch cannot be falling down during the maintenance. 7.2.2 Inspection intervals Inspection intervals can be defined by local authorities. If nothing else is mentioned, the fan shall be tested according to the intervals in table, but at least once a year. The annual inspection must be done by authorized persons only. Pos. The motor bearings have to be lubricated in accordance with the instructions that accompany the motor, latest at 3 years intervals. Replacements of bearings are to be done in accordance with the motor manufacturers instructions.

.2.4 Impeller The impeller shall be clean. 7.3 Replacing the Motor and the Impeller The fan will have to be disconnected from the unit before the motor can be replaced. SMHA-040,050,080,100-066,100-106 1. Check that the fan motor and hatch-motors are disconnected from mains 2. Remove outlet guard 3. Remove impeller from motor shaft by opening locking screw from shaft end 4. Remove impeller from the shaft, take care, that the key is not dropping down 5. Motor rotor can be lifted up and bearings can be checked SMHA-sizes 100-180 and all size 125 versions 1. Remove complete fan and lift it outside the casing for maintenance 2. Follow instructions of JMHT for maintenance 7.5 Final inspection Check that: The impeller is mounted for the correct direction of rotation. All screws and nuts have been tightened. No foreign objects have been left in the fan or in the ducting. 8. Faults If any faults occur during inspection which cannot be repaired by maintenance personnel, please contact the service department at Fläkt Woods. Examples of faults can include the following issues: - foreign particles inside fan - corrosive media inside - too high vibrations - not correct maintenance - hatch not opening Possible problems generated: - bearing damage - corrosion damage - vibration generated damage 11
