SVG 2 and Probes The new Generation of Semiconductor Radiation Meters and Handheld Radiation Detection Probes Innovation with Integrity Defence CBRNE
General Specification Alarm thresholds for the dose rate and the accumulated dose are adjustable. The alarm is given either optically by a red flashlight and acoustically by a horn (> 90 db A) or only by the flashlight. According to NATO NBC-4-NUC standards, the internal memory allows the storage of 330 data groups consisting of time, geographic location and current dose rate. 280 of them can be used for automatic storage after an adjustable time interval. Another 50 values can be recorded when required. Surface detection with αβγ probe The SVG2 is a newly developed, handheld, hardened and micro-processor controlled radiation detector based on state-of-the-art semiconductor technology. The SVG2 consists of a base instrument with integrated PIN-diode sensors and energy-compensated MOSFET for γ- and neutron radiation detection. An additional probe can be connected for the detection of α-, β-, and γ- radiation. The base instrument is easy to handle and is particularly distinguished by its low weight and power consumption. The current γ-dose rate and the accumulated γ-dose over a certain time can be displayed. Moreover, the dose of initial n- and γ-radiation is measured by an internal dosimeter even if the instrument is switched off! Handheld αβγ-probes are designed for measurements of surface contamination and activity of samples of different forms. Separate and combined measurement of α-, β-, and γ-radiation is possible. Additional probes for measurement of very low activities on surfaces and for low level gamma dose rates are available. Surface detection Detection of surface contamination with the αβγ-probe
Newly Developed & Extremely Flexible Radiation Meter Typical applications & accessories Due to its unique design, the SVG2 is capable of performing any thinkable detection task in a nuclear contaminated terrain. The instrument is extremely flexible and can be used hand held, installed in vehicles or on board ships. The SVG2 can be connected via an RS 232 interface to a PC or central data station for data exchange or to a GPS receiver. The SVG2 with its mountings is military approved for vibration and shock. Accessory set: carrying bag and αβγ-probe with telescope Vehicle integration of the SVG2 For mounted use in vehicles, the SVG2 can be connected to two external g probes with shielding, which are permanently attached on both sides of the vehicle. Due to the design of the vehicle mount, the instrument can be easily removed from the vehicle for handheld, dismounted missions. External vehicle γ-probes. Installation of SVG2 in vehicles with connection to vehicle power supply, external probes and data system
Shipboard Nuclear and Chemical Detection System As part of shipboard detection systems, it is possible to build up a special NC monitoring network consisting of SVG2, RAID-Ion Mobility instruments (please see our Bruker flyers for RAID instruments) and the NC monitoring software. Naval ship and submarine borne systems utilize a specially designed external γ-probe. The external γ-probe for naval environments was designed for use on submarines. However, the probe can be used for any kind of naval environment. The shipboard installation set includes a special vibration and shock mounting. External γ-probe for naval applications. NC Monitoring system 1 2 1 Chemical agent 2 Status of radiation detection display measurements Network operation with the NC Monitoring software Bruker recognises that customers require solutions that reduce operational manpower requirements whilst providing optimum performance, high levels of functionality and reliability. Therefore, up to 100 SVG2 instruments can be networked onto one system. This can be augmented by combining instruments for radiation and Chemical Warfare Agent (CWA) detection onto one network, which is controlled by the new NC Monitoring system. This enables the user to operate the system from one easy to use Graphical User Interface. A comprehensive maintenance software module has recently been developed which includes the ability to carry out remote operation of the SVG2 via a standard interface. SVG2 Probe System Surface contamination probe CP170 The ergonomically designed surface contamination probe significantly expands the possibilities for radiation detection. It enables measurement of very low activities on surfaces. The detector is based on a high level of detector technology. α-, β-, and γ-contamination can be measured with a detection area of 170 cm 2. Calibration factors for 11 nuclides allow accurate measurements of surface contamination in Bq/cm 2. Highly sensitive γ-probe SP 45 The highly sensitive scintillation detector is specially designed for measurements of low level gamma dose rates and the search of low activity radiation sources. It enables the detection of γ-contamination with a high degree of sensitivity.
