Introduction Traditionally, the Office of Facilities Management have been responsible for the organisation of furniture and soft furnishings throughout the University. This has been carried out within a general policy framework, which took into consideration: suitability of product for need value for money equity for all ease of maintenance or replacement co-ordination with colour scheme However, there is now a significant number of requests coming from individual staff members for the design, selection, ordering and/or installation of furniture and furnishings which are neither cost or time effective for Office of Facilities Management to manage. Furniture and furnishings for new capital work projects will continue to be funded by the project and furniture layouts organised by the Architectural Consultant. Ordering of the furniture will be organised by the designated Project Officer. Note, only the nominated suppliers are to be contacted. Minor & Refurbishment Projects will provide only for window coverings eg. blinds/curtains and wall furnishings eg. pin/notice/whiteboards, and shelving. The selection, ordering and installation of these items will be organised by the designated Project Officer. However, all other furniture for minor and refurbishment projects or school replacement needs is to be organised by the Department/Division/College. For ergonomic considerations, refer to the OH & S policies of the Personnel Management Handbook. 4

2.0 Policy Under this new arrangement except for new buildings, Budget Units will be required to directly arrange for all cost purchases and maintenance on all furniture and furnishing requirements including: holland blinds curtains and tracks window tinting pin, whiteboards and noticeboards projection screens loose furniture - chair, desk, table, workstation, bookcase, filing cabinet, cupboards, whitegoods. The supplier may be directly contacted for catalogues, sample selections and furniture layouts. Please refer to the OFM website regarding Space Allocation Guidelines. Budget Units will be responsible for adhering to the usual Supply Office procedures, and the following selection policy principles: identify office size, personnel classification eg. standard/assoc.professor/ Professor/Head of Division/Department in conjunction with furniture requirements, spatial layout for installation purposes and budget. contact supplier for catalogue and colour selection samples furniture laminate colour to be ocean micro or match existing classroom colour (refer to Clause 5.1). Seat shells to be teal or shadow or match existing colour (refer to Clause 5.1) place order adhering to the university s supply procedures establish delivery period and delivery locations with supplier Budget Unit representative to check supply & installation of furniture, defects and obtain warranties & maintenance requirements approve payment 5

3.0 Window Coverings 3.1 Blinds Standard Specification: HOLLAND BLINDS Two year warranty only. Standard refurbishment project furnishing approved only for external windows. Alternate approved furnishing is curtains. Twilight or Seclusion fabric Colour - Chalk (or match existing in new Building) No chain pull type Holland blinds.
