Before Using Your Device Before using your pancake maker for the first time, wipe the cooking plates with a damp cloth to remove all dust, and then dry. Wipe the outer surfaces with a slightly damp, soft cloth or sponge. Do not immerse this device, the cord or the plug in water. Set the appliance on a dry, clean and flat surface. Keep your pancake maker closed until needed.
Using Your Pancake Maker 1. Make sure that your pancake maker is closed, and then plug the attached power cable into a 120V AC electrical outlet to preheat. The red POWER ON light will illuminate. NOTE: When your pancake maker is heated for the first time, it may emit smoke or a distinct odor. This is normal and should disappear after 1 or 2 uses. This does not affect the safety of the appliance. However, as it may affect the flavor of the first batch of pancakes prepared in the pancake maker, it is recommended that these be discarded. 2. While preheating, prepare batter. 3. When the green READY light illuminates, (allow 2 minutes) the pancake maker is preheated and ready for cooking. 4. Since your pancake maker uses non-stick cooking plates, the use of oil is not necessary. However, depending on the recipe, some pancakes may be more difficult to remove, and thus it is recommended to brush the bottom of the cooking plates with vegetable oil so that your pancakes are easier to remove after baking. 5. Drop in the pancake batter with a teaspoon, and flatten the pancakes so that they do not exceed1/4 to 1/2 thickness. 6. Use the handle to lower the top lid. 7. Close the pancake maker and allow your pancakes to bake. 8. The green READY light will cycle on and off as the unit maintains baking temperatures. NOTE: As your pancakes bake, steam will be emitted from the pancake maker. This is normal.
9. After 4 to 5 minutes, wearing a protective oven mitt or potholder for protection, use the lid handle to lift the top lid so that it is open. 10. After lifting the top lid to expose the cooking plates, allow your pancakes to cool for 1 minute while the unit is still plugged in. 11. Remove the baked pancakes using a heat proof plastic or wooden spatula. To protect the premium quality non-stick surfaces, use only heat proof plastic or a wooden spatula to remove pancakes. The use of metal utensils may damage non-stick cooking plates. NOTE: If additional pancakes are to be baked, wear a protective oven mitt and wipe the unit clean with a dry cloth or paper towel. Keep the pancake maker closed to retain heat. Always wait until the green READY light illuminates before baking more pancakes. NOTE: Pancakes baked later may bake faster because extra heat has been retained. It may be necessary to adjust to a shorter cooking time to accommodate. 12. When all pancake baking is complete, unplug the power cord from the electric outlet. 13. Do not clean the unit until it cools fully.
Cleaning and Maintenance Other than the cleaning methods mentioned in this manual, no other servicing or maintenance of your device should be required. Repairs, if necessary must be performed by an authorized service center. Caution: Do not immerse the appliance, its cord or its plug in water. Before cleaning, when you are finished using your appliance, unplug the power cord from the wall outlet and allow it to cool completely. In order to prevent food residue buildup, clean your pancake maker after each use. Wipe the inside and the wells of your pancake maker with a clean, soapy sponge or cloth. Remove soapy residue with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly. To remove stubborn stains use a nylon brush or similar utensil safe for nonstick surfaces. Do not use steel wool or scouring pads. Do not use abrasive cleansers. Wipe the exterior with a clean, damp cloth. The cooking plates should be cleaned and conditioned before each heating. Brush the cooking plates with a clean, soft pastry brush or cloth. To condition the plates, lightly coat the cooking surfaces with solid vegetable shortening or vegetable oil. WARNING: The pancake maker is very hot during use. Never use plastic or nylon utensils that are not marked heat-proof as they may melt and damage the non-stick cooking surfaces. 1. To remove any batter baked onto the cooking plates, pour a small amount of cooking oil onto the hardened batter. Allow it to set for 5 minutes, and then wipe the now softened batter off with a paper towel or soft cloth. Remove stubborn stains with a plastic mesh puff or pad. A clean round kitchen brush or a toothbrush works well to remove baked-on batter from the molds. For best results, use only products with directions stating they are safe for cleaning non-stick cooking surfaces. Do not use steel wool or coarse scouring pads. Do not clean when unit is hot or in use. 2. The exterior finish should be cleaned with a non-abrasive cleaner and a soft, damp cloth. Dry thoroughly.
