WARNING: ELECTRIC SHOCK COULD OCCUR IF USED OUT- DOORS OR ON WET SURFACES. 3. Do not allow to be used as a toy. Close attention is necessary when used by or near children. 4. Do not pull or carry by cord, use cord as a handle, close a door on cord, or pull cord around sharp edges or corners. Do not run appliance over cord. Keep cord away from heated surfaces. 7 Do not unplug by pulling on cord. To unplug, grasp the plug, not the cord. FOR BEST PERFORMANCE 8. Do not handle plug or appliance with wet hands. 9. HOW TO RESET THE CIRCUIT BREAKER Your vacuum features a circuit breaker to protect the machine against damage due to a surge in the electrical current. Electrical surging can be a result of, though not limited to, a jammed brushroll (i.e. vacuuming up a sock or throw rug) or a jammed motor fan. Should your vacuum cleaner experience a jammed brushroll with the circuit breaker tripping, first press the on/off button to the off position and unplug the unit. Inspect the brushroll by removing the bottom plate (see How to Remove Bottom Plate ) and remove any debris which may be causing the jamming. Reinstall the bottom plate, reset the circuit breaker, plug in Circuit Breaker Reset Button power cord and turn unit on. If the unit fails to turn on, return it to an authorized service center for service. This appliance must be grounded. If it should malfunction or break down, grounding provides a path of least resistance for electric current to reduce the risk of electric shock. This appliance is equipped with a cord having an equipment-grounding conductor and grounding plug. The plug must be plugged into an appropriate outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances. This appliance is for use on a nominal 120 volt circuit and has a ground plug (see illustration, right). Make sure that the appliance is connected to an outlet having the same configuration as the plug. No adaptor should be used with this appliance. WARNING - Improper connection of the equipment-grounding conductor can result in a risk of electric shock. Check with a GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS qualified electrician or service person if you are in doubt as to whether the outlet is properly grounded. Do not modify the plug provided with the appliance if it will not fit the outlet, have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician. Grounding Grounded Outlet Grounded Outlet Box

ON / OFF SWITCH The on/off switch is located on the back side of the nozzle to the left of the handle tube. To turn the vacuum cleaner on, simply press the switch with your foot. To stop the vacuum cleaner, press the switch with your foot. Turn the vacuum cleaner off before unplugging from the electrical outlet. AUTOMATIC CARPET HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT Your upright vacuum cleaner is designed with an automatic, self-adjusting rug nozzle. No manual adjustments are required. The height of the nozzle is instantly and automatically adjusted to the carpet pile height. This self adjusting feature allows the rug nozzle to float evenly over all carpet pile surfaces. HOW TO CHANGE THE VACUUM BAG Unzip outer cloth bag. Remove used bag by depressing bag clip. (diagram 1). Discard used bag. 1 To install new bag, grasp filter bag collar and insert into the bag hinges. (diagram 2) With bag collar on lower hinges, simply push the bag into position until the collar snaps into the bag clip. Zip the outer cloth bag closed. BAG CLIP 2 BAG HINGE BAG HINGE

EDGE CLEANER The edge cleaning feature provides improved cleaning of carpets near walls and stationary furniture. For maximum edge cleaning, place the left side of the nozzle against the wall or stationary furniture. HOW TO CHANGE THE BELT Caution: First, unplug the vacuum cleaner from the electrical outlet. Turn the unit over and remove the bottom plate. Remove the brushroll and the worn or broken belt from the brushroll pulley and the motor drive shaft. (diagram 3) Loop the new belt around the motor drive shaft and the brushroll. (diagram 5) Reinstall the brushroll back into the housing. Turn the brushroll by hand, making sure the belt is not twisted and all rotating parts move smoothly. (diagram 4) Reinstall the bottom plate. NOTE: To ensure maximum cleaning efficiency, the belt should be checked regularly to be sure it is in good condition. Check to see if the belt is stretched, cracked, or if excessive slipping has occurred. Replace if needed. 4 3 5 New Belt

HOW TO REMOVE / INSTALL THE BOTTOM PLATE To remove bottom plate: Caution: First, unplug the vacuum cleaner from the electrical outlet. After unplugging the power cord, turn the vacuum cleaner over, exposing the underside. Press the two holding tabs inwards (diagram 6) releasing the bottom plate. Remove the bottom plate. To install bottom plate: Install bottom plate making sure bottom plate hinges are in place before setting the plate. (diagram 7) Press plate into position until the plate clicks. 6 7 HOW TO CHANGE POSITION OF THE BRUSHROLL The Light Weight Vacuum features a two position brushroll for money saving efficiency. The brushroll will be initially installed in the "first" position. To place the brush roll in the first position, the straight edge of the ends of the brushroll should be facing up with the rounded edge inserted into the vacuum. When the bristles on the brushroll are worn and the vacuum is not performing at 100% efficiency, the brushroll may be moved into the "second" position, allowing closer contact of the bristles to the floor surface. To place the brush roll in the second position, the rounded edge of the ends of the brushroll should be facing up with the straight edge inserted into the vacuum. Brushroll Edges
