WHO WE ARE : Fomat has been operating for over 40 years in the paper industry, and is continuously searching for the best technical solution to meet the needs of its customers. To achieve this goal every year we invest in research and development, and some of our products are tested and studied on our pilot plants before being launched on the market. Fomat has experienced and professional technicians and workers, who have allowed together with a cost reduction policy, to achieve optimal levels of quality and reliability of the product. With a continuous process of production optimization we are able to manage the entire production cycle, from designing to manufacturing and installation of machinery, up to an efficient after-sales service.

technologies FELT AND WIRE CLEANING SYSTEMS ALL SHOWER PIPES (HP) are provided with Fomat ruby nozzles designed to ensure a water flow and consumption constant over time. Each pipe is designed to avoid turbulences and deflection in the middle. All the shower pipes can be equipped with brush cleaning system, which was designed to avoid turbulence effects and to ensure the perfect cleaning of the nozzles and inside walls of the pipe. FIPS In 1986 Fomat was the first to understand that the increasing speed of the machines required a synchronization between the shower pipe handling system and the machine speed, in order to avoid possible dirty area and a shortened life of felts an wires. Today we got to the last generation of FIPS (smart series) that due to the absence of limit switches provides further reducing of maintenance costs. FAP 125 Aiming to offer products which make the working environment safer for the operator, Fomat developed the FAP to allow timing and automation of cleaning operations for shower pipes, usually installed in unhealthy places. To reach this goal Fomat developed a pneumatic system with reduced maintenance costs which does not require the passage of electric cables.

technologies FAST REMOUVING Is a patented system which allows to disassemble the shower while the machine is working. The fixing and sealing systems besides the discharge system, ensure reduced assembling/disassembling times with no need to stop the machine. SMART JET Is the latest project as regards to felt cleaning. It gives the possibility to further reduce water consumption, thus allowing to intervene directly in the dirty area thanks to a special rotating head with 4 nozzles with greater cleaning action. FAFF FRESH WATER FILTER AND OTOCINCLUS CLARIFIED WATER FILTER The need to use fresh water with residues or to reduce the water consumption brought Fomat to design and produce FAFF system for fresh water and patented OTOCINCLUS system for clarified water. FAFF filter allows a degree of filtration up to 25micron and has an automatic cleaning system in backwash. The OTOCINCLUS allows to use clarified water for applications that until now saw the use of fresh water. The strength of the series OTOCINCLUS is the possibility to ensure a high degree of cleaning up to 25 micron, without the need to use anti-foaming chemical products and avoiding the risk of clogging due to a backwashing system plus a patented mechanical cleaning system.

technologies BASIS WEIGHT VALVE Is necessary to control with accuracy the paper basis weight, thus ensuring a constant profile in the machine direction. FOMAT weight valve was designed to ensure a high degree of accuracy of 10.000-1 and over regardless of the implementation time. The main features of the valve are preventing the risk of clogging and elimination of backlash, furthermore the relationship between flow rate and valve opening is linear. MONOFLOW AND DUOFLOW ROTARY JOINTS FOR YANKEE After over 30 years of experience in steam systems, Fomat designed a steam joint to ensure high reliability and easy and safe maintenance operations. For this purpose we have designed in the nineties a series of joints equipped with a cartridge seal unit that can be replaced very easily in a few minutes and then reconditioned for maintenance in total safety. DOCTOR BLADE OSCILLATOR Fomat became aware in 1998 that the life of the Yankee cylinders was decreasing due to the increased speed and coating. A non-synchronized mechanical movement was no longer adequate. The solution was a hydro-electronic product with variable stroke and speed, without dead times in the inversion phase and with the possibility to set the inversion point, thus ensuring longer life time of the blades and a decrease in paper breaks.

technologies EDGE TRIM SHOWER System designed to allow a safe and easy replacement of the nozzles. The change of paper size can be done either manually with graduated bar or automatically by means of DCS. TAILCUTTER Made of a rigid structure with reliable components, this system avoids vibrations that can lead to inaccurate cutting causing frequent breaks of the paper sheet. The cutting speed is synchronized with the machine speed, this avoids the formation of conical reels. Maintenance can be done while the machine is working. COATING PLANT AND SPRAYING SHOWER FOMAT coating plant allows the complete independence from the suppliers of chemicals. It ensures the proper mixing, heating and concentration as well as filtration of the product. Another feature of the system is our FAST REMOVING coating pipe with fan nozzles easy to be replaced in a few seconds while the machine is running. The shower is designed to ensure the uniform distribution of chemicals on the outer surface of the Yankee with a double, triple and quadruple coverage. The shower can be equipped with pneumatic or electronic oscillating system.

aerothermic DUST AND MIST REMOVAL SYSTEM The dust generated around the doctor blades could deposit on the surrounding area, affecting the paper quality and increasing the fire risk. The mists generated in the wet area could damage the product quality and workers safety. FOMAT provides for a tailor made solution in order to guarantee a safe and healthy working environment and at the same time an efficient functioning of the machine.

aerothermic YANKEE HOOD AND AUXILIARY SYSTEMS Following the development of tissue machines, with ever higher temperatures and speeds, it became necessary to develop the Yankee hoods to increase their blowing speed and temperature. Fomat designs taylor made hoods and air systems to meet the specific customer requirements, with operation temperature up to 700 C and series AHT and BI-HOT. Some technical features of the hoods: Higher air distribution. Maintenance of the jet axial-symmetric shape. Less thermal stress. Minimum pressure losses. Better profile control. Aiming to reduce energy costs, our drying systems are equipped with energy recovery devices for production of high or low pressure steam, air heating for thermo-ventilation systems and heating of process water, as well as conditioning of control room. These equipment designed according to the needs of our customers allow to achieve an extremely high performance, denying the public opinion that drying mostly with the Yankee is energetically more convenient.

aerothermic STEAM AND CONDENSATE SYSTEM This was the first system developed by FOMAT in the seventies, designed with the aim of decreasing the fuel consumption and therefore ensuring a considerable energy saving. The times are not changed, and this aim is still valid and desirable. Our system is a closed circuit so as to avoid losses due to flash steam. We can offer an optimized system on a skid, fully assembled and wired. We can also add rotary joints and siphons to the supply, as well as steam generators.

aerothermic FYS YANKEE HEAD INSULATION The rising costs of energy made the minimizing of losses the main purpose of research. FOMAT developed and patented a new insulation system for the Yankee heads that can save up to 10% of steam consumption by eliminating the dissipation of the heads. The main feature of our system is the fact of being fixed to the structure and not rotating, making the area totally safe for the operators. After the installation of some systems, we also added as benefit the elimination of dust in the environment, due to the centrifugal effect of the cylinder. STEAM BOX With the purpose of saving energy in the tissue plants we actualized the steam boxes. Working together with a low-pressure steam generator that recovers fumes, these boxes allow to increase the machine productivity free of charge. The handling system developed by Fomat allows an easy cleaning of the steam box while the machine is running and the total elimination of possible mist leakage.

aerothermic RECOVERY BOILER AND INTEGREX SERIES Recovery boiler : Fomat has always faced the energy saving problem and has first developed an efficient, reliable and low-maintenance solution. Almost ten years ago we were the first to realize that we could add to the extraction system a shell recovery boiler, which guaranteed output up to 99%, excellent steam quality, constant functioning and reduced maintenance. Integrex: After a large number of recovery boilers installed, Fomat realized that the high amount of steam produced by these boilers made the traditional boiler installed in the mill a low-performing product, obviously due to the lower demand for steam. To solve this problem and further reduce consumption, we have developed Integrex series in collaboration with a brand manufacturer of boilers. This series combines in one unit the recovery boiler and the burner, thus ensuring a further reduction in consumption. The burner works only if necessary and does not remain in stand-by to be able to function as steam is needed. Unlike our competitors who use an after-burner, the system has the highest yields and the fumes are then exploited in our recovery unit. In case of new installations, we must add to the before said advantages also lower power consumption, lower installation costs and reduced space.

automation QUALITY CONTROL SYSTEM With an increasingly demanding market, the quality control system (QCS) is a base equipment to maintain the standards of production. FOMAT offers a flexible, customizable and highly reliable system featuring low maintenance costs. Our system also provides the possibility to log-in and remote assistance. Our systems can be equipped with conventional sensors or with infrared sensor capable of reading basis weight and moisture, thus avoiding the use of radioactive sources. Our infrared sensor has a self-calibration system, which avoids the high costs of scheduled annual maintenance.
