Company profile A French name for an Italian company, which has turned Made in Italy into its main strength. Founded in the early Fifties, at first it manufactured traditional sofas and soon became an industry leader. History Chateau d Ax opened its business in 1948 as a result of the Colombo family s hard work and dedication in Lentate sul Seveso, a small town between Como and Milan, an Italian region that is known all over the world for its traditional handicrafts. Chateau d Ax s dedication has gone on for decades, so that now it has become synonym with modern living, adjustable to the most fashionable dimensions of personal taste, from designer to romantic, to new luxury. In the Nineties, Chateau d Ax opened its doors to franchising, unveiling its first Italian franchise in 1995. The company kept growing abroad and in 2001 there were as many as 100 Chateau d Ax stores across Europe. Just four years later, in 2005, the number of European stores had already doubled. Driven by its dynamism and creativity, in 2006 the company started to produce its Cucina kitchen range, providing a full spectrum of unique furnishings, in which design and research grow together, interpreting contemporary living in ever-different contexts, a pioneer of new trends and new tastes of the world of living. 2nd Leaf - The Eco-friendly Home by Chateau d Ax Chateau d'ax kicked off its process of innovation during the last edition of Salone del Mobile (Milan s International Furniture Fair) with the presentation of More is Better, offering designs for the home based on a new concept of domestic living with practical turnkey solutions created by the Chateau d'ax Contract division. This area of expertise is strengthened through partnerships with designers and manufacturers for the development of functional solutions, activities that work perfectly together to ensure the delivery of successful contract designs. Going back over our journey, remaining true to the company s philosophy by which research, development and creativity evolve together, and having reached the conclusion that green living can improve our quality of life, has led to the creation of the Eco-friendly Home by Chateau d Ax. This concept of a home with an environmentally responsible design, where value is added to products through innovation, has been created thanks to the work of a skilful team that knows how to combine respect for nature with a passion for design. The structure of the exhibition space at the Salone del Mobile 2014 will be created in cooperation with companies such as Stratex Living, Caeser, Bticino and Carminati Serramenti, using materials attentive to the environment. Contemporary living trends and experiences dictate what it means today to design a home with respect for the environment; a home furnished with the Chateau d'ax Deluxe collection, created with the same concept of green culture. Deluxe is the top of the range of Chateau d'ax s products, a range in which design, innovation and the search for new materials have joined forces to create elegant spaces for a demanding target market. Lightweight and embracing, with a dynamic design, generous seat depths and cushions with goose down stuffing, these are the distinguishing features of this collection that will be presented at the Salone del Mobile 2014. To meet the growing awareness of environmental issues, the greatest attention has been paid to the selection of materials and leather processing techniques that do not involve the use of chrome and make it possible to obtain leather with natural characteristics. Black walnut Noce Canaletto is the material chosen for the furniture, which has been designed with great attention to detail, such as the doors cut at a 45 angle, the thickness of the wood and the practical push-pull mechanism of the Salice hinges. The generously sized kitchen has a wall-hung base unit, whilst the wall cupboards are of a modular design and can be arranged in aerial compositions that appear to be suspended in space; this great freedom to create compositions is repeated in the living room, creating an impression of continuity in the home. This project embraces a new way of interpreting the home designed with the greatest attention to detail. It makes green design and technology accessible to all and in any situation thanks to a different and innovative take on furnishings.
