The subjects covered under this heading are AAQG specific: Standardization for Notification of Change (NOC). Production and Airworthiness Certification Issues Forum (PACIF). Critical Safety Items (CSI). AS 9015 Supplier Self Verification Program Industry Forums 8
Notification of Change This project is the result of a General Aviation Manufacturers Association initiative. The objective of this project is to have a process that is endorsed by the Authorities and industry for communicating changes to the Design Authority. 9
Notification of Change (cont d) This process is limited to suppliers that have design responsibility for the product and to suppliers providing design services to any aviation, space or defense customers. It includes a standardized decision tree and data submittal protocols. 10
Notification of Change (cont d) The Change Types in this process are: Changes that require Customer Acceptance prior to implementation. Changes that May require Acceptance prior to implementation (Customer/Contract dependent). Changes implemented concurrent with Notification for Customer Acceptance 11
Notification of Change (cont d) Non-configuration Changes that are Recorded but not Submitted to the Customer. 12
Notification of Change (cont d) The next steps in the development of this process are to: Engage the Authorities Finalize the Document and pilot the process. Present the results to the AAQG and to the IAQG for possible expansion to the other sectors. Ballot the Document and close the project. 13
PACIF The AAQG has agreed to participate in this forum with the FAA to discuss issues or enhancements relating to production and airworthiness issues. The General Aviation Manufacturers Association is leading this activity and other participants include the Aerospace Industries Association and the Modification and Replacement Parts Association. 14
PACIF (cont d) The goal is to provide a forum for open dialogue between the FAA and industry. The AAQG invitees are: AAQG Chair AAQG Vice Chair AAQG Civil Segment Chair IAQG Civil Authorities Relationship Growth Strategy Leader (member of the AAQG). 15
Critical Safety Items A study has been launched to determine the feasibility of developing a Quality System Standard for Critical Safety Items. This standard will provide a set of quality system flow down requirements based on CSI Law, CSI Handbook and industry input. This standard will result in consistent evaluation criteria for CSI suppliers. 16
Supplier Self Verification Program This project was undertaken in response to concerns that no minimum requirements exist for granting, maintaining and terminating delegation of product verification to a supplier. One of the benefits identified was that this delegation process will drive the responsibility and accountability for quality back to the organization that produces the product. 17
Supplier Self Verification Program (cont d) The outcome was the creation of the standard AS 9015 that was published in September 2007. 18
Industry Forums These face to face sessions are conducted periodically based on interest in a topic. Past topics have included: First Article Inspection conducted using Digital Data sets. Supplier Delegated Inspection Systems. Systems employed to flow down requirements for safety critical parts. 19
Industry Forums (cont d) These sessions are hosted by AAQG member companies and are open to AAQG council members and visitors. They usually last 1 to 2 days. Participants are encouraged to discuss their approach to the topic. 20
Reminder The AAQG remains fully aligned with the IAQG strategy and initiatives The unique projects in the AAQG are undertaken as a result of request from Authorities and/or other industry segments in the Americas. 21
