Understanding the complexity of the investigation, necessary equipment, personnel considerations, and other resources. Conference Conference Schedule Schedule Sunday, March 3rd 7-8 AM Sign in 8-8:15 AM Opening Introductions and Announcements 8:15-10 AM Putting it all Together by Steve Riggs Sunday Conference Schedule Sponsored by Case review of an investigation, given the information in the seminar, the attendees will be divided into groups, and given the amount of time necessary to write an effective, scientific based, and systematic report that can withstand a challenge whether challenged by other class peers, deposition, or in the court system. Testifying in deposition, or trial and surviving potential questions that may be ask of you, resulting from any investigation, along with the format of your reports, discovery, and method of documentation applied when writing the report. We all make mistakes, or may have said, I wish I would have answered the question I was ask differently. 10 10:15 AM Break Critical questions that may arise in your case will be dis cussed during the Sunday session, if there are going to be any mistakes, we want to handle them in class, and not in court, trial or deposition. There is no case that can be fully accurate, or bullet proof for all questions that may be ask of the investigator, however with proper preparation, a well written report, proper review and enough proper documentation can certainly make it close to being bullet proof. Featured Speaker Steve Riggs CFI,CFEI,CVFI, &CFII Certified State of Oklahoma (Retired) Steve Riggs retired after twenty-two years of Law Enforcement, and Fire Service Experience in Oklahoma. Steve has been examining fire scenes for 40 years. Steve has extensive training in Fire Cause Determination, Criminal Investigation, Arson Investigation, Evidence Processing, Interviewing Techniques, and Case Management. He is a certified Police and Fire Instructor, and a Certified Fire Investigator Instructor. Mr. Riggs has successfully been involved in many Fire/Arson Prosecutions in Oklahoma, and was involved in a Federal Prosecution. To date, he has never lost an arson case. Steve has authored and co-authored several fire training manuals and written A Critical Analysis of NFPA 921 User s Manual 2nd Edition. Steve lectures nationally to Local, State, Federal Agencies, Insurance, private, and military Investigators, prosecutors, vehicle manufacture representatives and their engineers. Steve is on the board of directors at National Association of Fire Investigators. Steve continues to examine fires in the private sector. Featured Speaker Thomas J. Bajzek, P.E., CFEI Engineering Systems Inc. (ESi) Mr. Bajzek is an electrical engineer with experience in electrical and electronic systems design and analysis, electrical safety assessment, electrical accident reconstruction, and electrical equipment failure analysis. He has conducted complex, multidisciplinary failure investigations pertaining to industrial and consumer products, medical devices, vehicles, and aircraft. He has provided testimony internationally, and in matters pending before both state and federal courts. Mr. Bajzek has been involved in the investigation of electrical accidents, fires, and explosions for over 20 years. In addition, he has over 30 years experience in research, product development, and design. This includes medical product development, analog and digital circuit design, and electromagnetic heating system design. His experience includes design consulting and laboratory and field testing.
