Radiation-based measurement - Detectors PROTRAC Radiation-based detector for level, density and mass flow measurement Measuring principle Extreme temperatures, high process pressures and complicated mounting conditions the radiation-based measurement by means of gamma rays delivers precise and reliable results even in most difficult applications. The emitted gamma rays are damped when penetrating the medium. The detector receiving the rays at the opposite side of the vessel, calculates a measured value out of their strength. Application level measurement With PROTRAC levels and limit heights are detected contactlessly. Since the measuring facility is mounted on the outside of the vessel, the measuring result is not influenced by physical and chemical properties of the measured product. In addition, measurements on pressurized vessels or on vessels with agitators can be realised without problems. For different vessel forms and sizes, various detector versions are offered which are also cascadable for use on very huge vessels. Application density measurement The non-contact, continuous density and concentration measurement of liquids and bulk solids is suitable for pipelines with a diameter from 50 mm up to more than 800 mm and for all kinds of vessels. The measuring principle is independent of viscosity, conductivity and chemical properties of the medium. Mounting is carried out on existing pipelines, generally from outside. With small tube diameters, a measuring track is added to the pipeline system. Temperature influences are compensated electronically. Application flow rate measurement The mass flow determination of bulk solids can be simply mounted to existing conveyor belt systems by means of a measurement strap. There is no wear since the measurement is contactlessly and without moving parts. Only narrow space requirements and there are no flow calming sections of the mass flow required. PROTRAC is suitable for various conveyor systems, for example conveyor belt weighers, screw conveyors, chain trough conveyors, steel plate conveyors, bucket conveyors, shafts or tubes with free falling materials. 190 - AL-EN Radiation-based measurement - Detectors
