IMPORTANT BATTERY SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS, READ FIRST DANGER: Do not store battery in an airtight container, as it may cause an explosion. WARNING: When using electric devices, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and personal injury, including the following. PROPOSITION 65 WARNING: Battery posts, terminals and related accessories contain lead and lead compounds, chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and reproductive harm. Wash hands after handling. WARNING: 1. Do not incinerate the battery even if it is severely damaged or is completely worn out. The battery can explode in a fire. Check with local codes for possible special disposal instructions. 2. If leakage of liquid from the battery cell occurs, discontinue use immediately and dispose of properly. 3. Do not charge battery in rain or in wet location. 4. Never attempt to open the battery for any reason. If the plastic housing of the battery breaks or cracks, immediately discontinue use and do not recharge. If the battery appears to be dusty or dirty, wipe it off with a soft cloth. 5. Use only an approved Auto Rewind Hose Reel battery. Contact our customer service line for a replacement. 6. Do not attempt to disassemble, remodel or destroy the battery, as it may cause battery leakage, fire, or bursting; and could also create sulfuric acid spills from the battery resulting in possible burns to personnel and damage to the immediate environment. 7. Exercise care in handling batteries in order not to short the battery with conducting materials such as rings, bracelets or keys. The battery or conductor may overheat and cause burns. 8. The battery contains diluted sulfuric acid, a very toxic substance. If the battery leaks and the liquid inside spills on the skin or clothing, immediately wash it off with plenty of clean water. If the liquid

splashes into eyes, immediately flush the eyes with plenty of clean water and consult a doctor. Sulfuric acid in the eyes may cause loss of eyesight and acid on the skin will cause burns. 9. Charge battery using the specified charger and under the charging conditions as specified. Charging the battery under any other conditions may cause the battery to overheat, emit hydrogen gas, leak, ignite, or burst. 1 0. When this product is not used for 30 days or more, remove the battery from the fountain, charge it fully and store in a place where humidity is low. Do not store the battery under direct sunlight or in high temperatures. Unsatisfactory storage conditions may cause deterioration in battery performance, shorten the service life. 1 1. When charging battery always do so in a well ventilated area and where you can observe the charging process. 1 2. Do not charge on counter tops, carpets or other finished surfaces. It is recommended that the battery be placed on a concrete surface while charging. Do not turn on the water pump before filling up your fountain with water!

Assembling Your Fountain Step 1 : Large Bowl Assembly Locate a flat, firm surface to place your fountain. Once you have found the perfect spot for your fountain, place the base upright in the desired area. Place the large bowl on top of the base. Note the bottom of the bowl has a locking key shape which matches the top of the base. Twist the bowl clockwise, about a quarter turn, until it locks into place. 8

Step 2: Water Pump Assembly Feed the cable on the water pump down into the pipe in the middle of the large bowl. Make sure to feed as much of the cable as possible down into the pipe. Slip the foam water seal onto the power cord of the water pump. Press the foam water seal into the pipe in the middle of the large bowl. This will act as a water seal to prevent water from getting into the battery compartment. Before proceeding, make sure the water pump is on its highest setting by turning the dial on the face of the pump counterclockwise until it cannot turn any further. 9

For convenience, lay the fountain bowl on its side inside the large bowl to make connecting the water pump to the tube inside the fountain bowl easier. Slide the extruded outlet of the water pump into the tube inside the fountain bowl. Push the outlet into the tube until the connection is snug. Step 3: Fountain Bowl Assembly Set the Fountain Bowl in the middle of the Large Bowl. When the Fountain Bowl is attached, the Water Pump will sit at the perfect level to pump water for your fountain. The bottom of the Fountain Bowl has a key locking shape which matches the top of the Large Bowl. Twist the Fountain Bowl clockwise, about a 1 4 turn until it locks into place. 1 0

Step 4: Connect Battery The battery included with your Bernini Fountain comes pre-charged, so you do not have to charge the battery before you use your fountain for the first time! Before connecting the battery to your fountain, insert the water-tight plug attached to the battery into the receptacle labelled with a black circle. Plug the cord labelled with a red sleeve into the receptacle on the battery labelled with a red circle. The plug the cord labelled with a green sleeve into the receptacle on the battery labelled with a green circle. With both cables plugged into the battery, place the battery inside its compartment. Now close the compartment door by attaching and sliding the compartment door to the left. When the battery compartment door is closed you may notice a small opening in the side of the compartment door. This is required to connect your battery to the optional solar power unit for your Bernini Fountain. 11

Self-Watering Garden Instructions The following instructions are for users that would like to use the gardening feature. 1. Transplant potted plant into the Garden Bowl. 2. Before placing the Garden Bowl onto the fountain make sure any loose soil is cleaned from the bottom of the bowl to reduce dirt in the fountain for first use. NOTE: During first use some of the soil will transfer from the bottom of the Garden Bowl into the fountain causing dirt to show up in the bottom bowls. After approximately three days of use clean the Fountain Bowl and Large Bowl of debris and the loose soil will stop transferring to the fountain, allowing the fountain to run cleanly. Garden Bowl does not lock into place. 1 2

Using Garden Bowl Your self watering aerating garden fountain is designed to adjust for different types of plants depending on their water requirements. There are four water levels depending on the water requirements of your particular plant. These are adjusted by placing the Rubber Spacers in between the Fountain Bowl and the Garden Bowl. Plants requiring little water use all three spacers. Plants requiring moderate water place two spacers in between the two bowls. Plants requiring heavy water place one spacer in between the two bowls. Plants requiring ample water use no spacers. How the Self-Watering Garden System Works Your self watering garden fountain waters from the bottom up. Do not worry if you do not see the top soil becoming wet after the first day or two of use. The bottom layer of the soils is becoming watered every time you run the fountain. After approximately 3 days the soil will reach its maximum water level, steadily climbing to just below the surface of the soil, depending on the top bowl water level you have selected. Your self watering garden fountain will automatically aerate your plant once the fountain has turned off. When the fountain is on, the water level rises above the bottom surface of the top planter bowl in which the water saturates the soil. When the water is turned off, the water level lowers until the remaining water is soaked up into the soil. Then an air gap forms allowing the bottom of your planter to not stay immersed in water. 1 3

Dancing Water Feature Assembly If you would like to have a dazzling fountain pattern adorning the top of your fountain you can use the included fountain spout assemblies to create an eye-catching fountain show. Make sure the end of the feeder tube is pressed snuggly into the middle of the fountain bowl. Press the chosen dancing water feature spout into the middle of the fountain bowl. To install the umbrella spray spout, you must insert the extension tube first. Attach the dancing water extension adapter to the connection at the end of the water tube in the middle of the fountain bowl. The press the umbrella spray spout on to the extension tube. 1 4

Optional: Bubbling Decor Top Instructions Remove the garden bowl or dancing water feature spout. Detach the fountain bowl from the large bowl. Disconnect the water pump from the feeder tube and then remove the feeder tube from the fountain bowl. Insert the decor top's water tube into the middle of the fountain bowl. Run the tube all the way down and then lock the decor top using the locking system. Lock the decor top into place then connect the water pump using the instructions on page 7 1 5

Setting Up Your Fountain Filling Your Fountain Fill the fountain bowl until water pours over the spouts. Then fill the large bowl until water is about 1 inch (2.5 centimeters) from the top of the bowl. Operating Your Fountain The control button is located on the upper side of the base, just below the large bowl. Press the button once to turn it on and the fountain will run for one hour before automatically turning off. While the fountain is running, you can turn it off by pressing and holding down the power button for 3 seconds. Auto Function Your Bernini Fountain can run in four different automatic modes of operation. To access these functions the fountain must be powered off. One hour operation: Press the power button once and your fountain will automatically turn off after one hour of operation. Two hour operation: Press the power button twice and your fountain will automatically turn off after two hour of operation. Three hour operation: Press the power button three times and your fountain will automatically turn off after three hour of operation. Four hour operation: Press the power button four times and your fountain will automatically turn off after four hour of operation. 1 6

Recharging Your Fountain's Battery Before proceeding, please read Warnings and Important Information on page 1. Cleaning the Water Pump Watch how to do this online! See an online tutorial at: http://bit. ly/pump-tut Plug the battery charger into an electrical wall outlet. Plug the cord running from the battery charger to the black labeled receptor on the rechargeable battery. While the battery is charging, the light on the top of the battery will blink. Charge battery for 1 2-1 4 hours or until the red light on the top of the battery stops blinking. When the battery is fully charged, the light on the top of the battery will stop blinking and the light will be solid. At this point, you can remove the battery from the charger and plug the battery into your fountain. Remove the front of the water pump by grabbing sides of front and pulling off of the unit. Pull the two Water Pump filters from their locations inside the Water Pump. After you have removed the filters from the Water Pump, clean the filters under running water until all debris has been cleared from the filters. 1 7

Cleaning the Water Pump Impeller B A Sometimes the impeller (labelled B in the diagram below) will need to be cleaned. To service this part remove the impeller cover (labelled part A in the diagram below) and then remove the impeller from the Water Pump. Clean the impeller and impeller cover under running water until any debris is cleared from both parts. Adjusting water pump power If you find that the height of the water from the Fountain Spouts is too high, you can adjust the power of the Water Pump to decrease the Fountain Spouts output to your preference. Decrease Water Pump Power Turn the circular switch on the front of the lever clockwise to decrease the power of the Water Pump Increase Water Pump Power Turn the circular switch on the front of the lever counterclockwise to increase the power of the Water Pump 1 8

Priming The Water Pump 1. If the Garden Bowl is on top of the fountain, remove the Garden Bowl. 2. Remove the fountain bowl by turning the bowl a quarter turn counterclockwise and then lift. You can now rest the fountain bowl on its side. 3. Now detach the Water Pump from the water tube inside the fountain bowl. When removing the Water Pump use caution when pulling the pump from the fountain tube. Pinch the bottom of the tube close to the pump with one hand and then pull the pump away from the tube with your other hand. DO NOT REMOVE THE WATER TUBE FROM THE FOUNTAIN BOWL. 4. Submerge the Water Pump into the water inside the Large Bowl and lightly shake the Water Pump to release air bubbles inside the pump. If there is not enough water in the Large Bowl to submerge the Water Pump, add water to the Large Bowl. 5. With the Water Pump s vents submerged in the water, turn your fountain on. You should see water coming out the extruded fitting at the top of the fountain. 6. If water is flowing out of the top of the Water Pump, then you can reassemble your fountain starting from step three on page 7 in the instructions. If you do not see water flowing out from the pump after following these steps, turn the fountain off, start from step four of this section and try again. 1 9

FAQ Frequently asked questions about our fountains. Will my fountain fall down in heavy winds? If you live in a region with heavy winds, you can add weight to the base of your fountain by adding sand to the chamber in the bottom of the base. To add extra weight to your fountain, pour sand into the chamber inside the base of your fountain. How can I keep the dancing water feature from spraying over the sides of my fountain? Try turning down the power on the water pump, instructions are on page 1 5 Where can I get support if I have questions or need parts? Feel free to contact us at 1.888.648.201 1 or you can visit us online at berninifountains. com 20

Troubleshooting Water pump is running, but you do not see water flowing from your fountain: 1. Check to make sure the connection from the water pump to the feeder tube is snuggly connected. 2. You may need to prime your pump, instructions can be found on page 1 6 of this manual. Water is not pouring from all of the spouts on the edge of the fountain bowl: To ensure that water flows evenly from the fountain bowl on your Bernini Fountain, make sure to place your fountain on a flat and sturdy surface. If you find that water is not pouring well from the fountain bowl, you can also put small wedge underneath the base to help level the fountain and make the water pour evenly from the fountain bowl. Water pump not powering on. Check the connections going to battery inside the base. Both connections should be snug. 21
