NFPA 72 SIG-PRO Meeting Minutes NFPA Technical Committee on Protected Premises Fire Alarm Systems (SIG-PRO) Second Draft Meeting, July 17 19, 2017 Charlotte, North Carolina 17-7-1 Call to Order Chair Jack Poole called the meeting to order at 8:00 AM on Monday, July 17, 2017. 17-7-2 Roll Call & Introductions Those present introduced themselves (see Attendance Sheet for all attendees, Principles, Alternates, & guests). A number of guests participated during the committee meeting over the 3 days, including but not limited to (see Attendance Sheet): Michael Pallett, Telecor, Inc. Ed Garcia, Comark Bill Pancake, CAP Government Daniel Finnegan, Siemens Joe Dafin, U.S. General Services Administration Jason Webb, AFAA Denise Pappas, Valcom Kimberly Gruner, Fire Suppression Systems Association Maria Marks, Siemens Andrew Berezowski, Honeywell 17-7-3 Staff/Chair Remarks Chair Poole thanked the Task Groups for their work which was completed prior to the meeting. NFPA Staff Liaison Chris Coache addressed the committee with a presentation detailing the NFPA revision process, participant conduct, Legal-Antitrust matters, and the proposed timeline for the current revision cycle. 17-7-4 Approval of Meeting Agenda Motion made to approve the Agenda. The motion was seconded and passed. One item to consider the verbiage: activate vs. actuate maintain consistency.
One item to consider the verbiage: visible vs. visual maintain consistency. 17-7-5 Approval of Meeting Minutes Motion made and seconded to accept the previous meeting s minutes. The motion passed. 17-7-6 Task Group Reports/ Public Comments, Committee Comments, & Second Revisions Five Task Groups were assigned by Chair Poole prior to the meeting. Each group was responsible for providing tentative recommendations and statements for their assigned Public Comments. The Task Groups and their responsibilities are identified below: Task Group #01 Larry Shudak (Chair) Responsibility: Section 12 and 21.3 and Associated Annex Sections Task Group #02 Sagiv Weiss-Ishai (Chair) Responsibility: Section 21.6 and Associated Annex Sections Task Group #03 David Burkhart (Chair) Responsibility: Section 23.6 and Associated Annex Sections Task Group #04 Brian Jarvis (Chair) Responsibility: Section 21.3 21.5, 21.8, 23.1 23.5 and Associated Annex Sections Task Group #05 Tom Hammerberg (Chair) Responsibility: Section 23.8 23.16 and Associated Annex Sections; Annex C At the conclusion of their reports and review of all PCs and SRs, all five (5) TGs were dismissed with thanks. 17-7-7 Old Business No old business was presented to the committee at this time. 17-7-8 New Business No new business was presented to the committee at this time.
17-7-9 Review Dates & Times for Future Meetings/Conference Calls At this time, the NFPA Staff Liaison reviewed the timeline for the revision cycle and the dates and locations for future meetings. Posting of the Second Draft Report 01-24-2018. 17-7-10 Adjournment & Closing Remarks Chair Jack Poole thanked the committee members for their hard work to process all of the Public Comments which were submitted to the committee. A motion to adjourn was moved and seconded at this time. The motion was approved by the committee at 12:07 PM. The meeting spanned three days, July 17, 2017 through July 19, 2017.
