3. Connecting up the Mini Suction The device must be connected to an ordinary, earthed mains 3 pin socket. Connect the suction tubing to the tank and fit the bacterial filter into the straight AIR OUT. Connect the suction tubing to angled VACUUM IN and insert the opposite end into the lid of the disposable Vacsax saliva tank 4. Using the unit Start suction using the on/off switch. Before you use the saliva tank you should ensure that the Vacsax liner is pushed firmly into the canister. You can use the suction system to do this: Block the suction inlet where the saliva suction tubing is attached and press down. The tank should suck itself into place. When you fit the disposable tubing, make sure that it is pushed completely through the tube. 4
5. Operation It is important that the contents of the tank does NOT exceed the line on the disposable tank. The tank is provided with a flow block which closes automatically if the saliva level is too high. However, if saliva comes up through the suction tubing and into the pump both tubing and pump must be disinfected. To do this, lay the pump on its side remove the bacterial filter ( which will probably have to be changed for a new one, suck small amounts of isopropyl alcohol through the system. If you wish to use the device without a bacterial filter you must connect a tube which will conduct the air out of the room and into the open space. This tube can be ordered if required. 6. Hygiene Make sure that the tubing holder is cleaned after each patient 7. Disinfection and cleaning The saliva tank is made of plastic and will not withstand temperatures over 60ª C. It can be washed in warm soapy water and isopropyl alcohol. The Vacsax saliva tank is disposable, break of the little green end and insert into suction connector which can then be disposed of. The bacterial filter must be changed regularly. Remove the filter by unscrewing the chrome nut and twist of the tube, cut of the last 5 10 mm of the tubing if necessary. 8. Spare parts and consumables All parts are available see page 2 for order numbers. 9. Service/repair The Mini suction can only be repaired by authorised Newcodent staff.
