Safety Tips for the Fall Break Out of town? Road Safety Party Safety If you are planning to be out of town for the break, here s a few tips to secure your home: Turn off all lights and unplug all electronics Lock doors and windows Hide valuables in a place not visible to others If you are on campus during the break, be alert. Call UTSA PD (210) 458-4242 to report unusual activity Download and utilize the LiveSafe App If you are planning to drive during the break, here s a few tips to follow: When driving long distances, be sure to take breaks Watch for water on the road, if an area is flooded find an alternative route In slippery conditions, maintain a safe distance from cars in front of you and drive under the speed limit Watch for animals on the road In foggy conditions, use low beam lights If you are planning to attend parties during the break, here s a few tips to follow: Keep your drink covered and don t leave it unattended Have a designated sober driver if you plan on drinking Only accept drinks from servers Attend parties with friends and watch out for each other 2
The fall break is a time for students and faculty to relax and spend time with their families, but it is important to still be precautious. Have a fun and safe fall break! 3
Ar und the PD Congratulations to Chief Gerald Lewis and the UTSA Police Department. The police department and Chief Lewis were awarded the UT System Police Pacesetter Department of the Year Award this past October. For their success, the department was granted $2,500 from UT System Office. UT System Police Office of the Director of Police selected Sergeant Veronica Rangel as UT System Officer of the month. Congratulations, Sgt. Rangel! The UTSA Police Department participated at Take Back the Night. Chief Lewis was honored to be a guest speaker. This annual event brings awareness to Inter Personal Violence issues. UTSA students, faculty and staff came together to take a stand against Inter Personal Violence.
