PROTECT FROM FROST

DIRECTIONS FOR USE NOTE: These Directions for Use form part of the Approved Product label and must be read before using the product. SKORA will give the best activity when applied to small, actively growing weeds and benefits from being used in a competitive crop. This is especially true when applied for cleaver control when HBNs (ioxynil & bromoxynil) are not used in tank-mixture. The HBNs disrupt the cell surface and facilitate the entry of SKORA into the weeds. VARIETAL SAFETY There are no restrictions on the varieties safe to treat. RESTRICTIONS Do not use in crops undersown with clover or other legume mixtures. Keep livestock out of treated areas for at least 3 days and until all poisonous weeds such as ragwort have died and become unpalatable. Do not apply if night temperatures are low or if frost is imminent. Do not roll or harrow crops for 7 days before or after application of SKORA. Do not treat crops subject to stress such as frost, drought, water-logging, trace element deficiency, pest or disease attack. Traces of SKORA left in the tank after application may cause damage to susceptible crops sprayed later. Ensure application equipment is thoroughly cleaned after use. RESTRICTIONS applying to SKORA applied at 2.0 L/ha only. Do not overlap spray bouts. Do not sow winter bean or other legumes in the same year as applying 2.0 L/ha SKORA. Do not sow peas or other legumes in the spring following application of 2.0 L/ha SKORA. Do not incorporate straw treated with 2.0 L/ha SKORA. Bale straw and use only for animal bedding. When composted, this bedding should only be applied to land to be cropped with grass or cereals. CROP SPECIFIC INFORMATION Winter wheat and winter barley. SKORA can be applied to winter wheat and winter barley from 2 leaves (GS12) up until the boot swollen stage (GS45). Recommended doses are 0.75 L/ha + HBNs, 1.0 L/ha + HBNs or 1.0 L/ha alone. When applied in tank-mixture with HBNs (MAPP Nos 04740, 04876, 07099, 08255, 09470 and 10005) the mixture may be applied from GS12 up to GS31 (First node detected) only. When used for volunteer potato control in winter wheat and winter barley only, the dose of SKORA should be increased to 2.0 L/ha but should not be tank-mixed with other products. Winter oats, winter rye, triticale and durum wheat. SKORA can be applied to winter oats, winter rye, triticale and durum wheat from 2 leaves (GS12) up to first node detected (GS31). Do not tank-mix with other products when treating triticale.

Spring wheat, spring barley and spring oats. SKORA can be applied to spring wheat and spring barley from the 2 leaf stage (GS12) up until flag leaf ligule just visible (GS39). When used in spring oats the application timing is from GS12 up until first node detectable (GS31). Mixtures with HBNs can be used in these crops up to GS31. Mixtures with salt formulations of MCPA or dichlorprop can be used in these crops from 5 leaves (GS15) up until stem extension (GS30). Mixture with clopyralid (e.g. MAPP 10988) can be used from GS12 up until second node detectable (GS32) in spring wheat and spring barley, from GS12 up until GS31 in spring oats. The higher dose rate gives more consistent control, particularly when growing conditions are not ideal. After the end of February options marked ( 2 ) are more appropriate. Key: FL = Flowering; lvs = No. of true leaves. MR = checked up to 2 true leaf stage only. R = Resistant

COMPATIBLE MIXTURES Spring application to spring and winter cereals: SKORA can be mixed with clopyralid (e.g. MAPP 10988) for control of mayweeds and corn marigold up to 50mm. Application timing is GS12 32 for spring wheat and barley but only GS12 31 for spring oats. SKORA can be tank-mixed with metsulfuron-methyl (e.g. MAPP 12203) for broader spectrum weed control but check the metsulfuron label for timings and apply in good growing conditions particularly when cleavers form a significant part of the weed population. Spring application to spring cereals: SKORA can be tank-mixed with salt formulations of MCPA or dichlorprop. The MCPA mix is particularly useful when common poppy, fat-hen and shepherd s-purse form a significant part of the weed population. Application timing is GS15 GS30. VOLUNTEER POTATO CONTROL in winter wheat and winter barley. SKORA can be used to control volunteer potatoes in winter wheat and winter barley only by application at 2.0 L/ha in a water volume of 300 400 L/ha. The crop can be treated with this high dose from the third node detectable stage (GS33) up to boots swollen (GS45) and the potato shoots should range 10 40 cm tall. Only shoots that have emerged will be affected so later applications tend to be more effective. Complete kill of the potato foliage will not be achieved but the stunting that results from treatment reduces the competitive effect of the potatoes on the cereal crop. There will also be a useful reduction in the viability of the (smaller) daughter tubers produced. FORAGE MAIZE SKORA can be used to control black nightshade in forage maize. Application of 1.0 L/ha in a water volume of 200 300 L/ha when the maize is from 3-6 lvs up to 20 cm tall will control black nightshade from cotyledons up to 6 true leaves. Do not apply once the buttress roots have started to develop from the first node since these will become distorted and will not support the crop. SKORA will also control those weeds listed as susceptible in spring cereals above but weeds that have not yet emerged at application will not be controlled since there is no residual activity. Do not apply in tank-mixture with any other product. NEWLY SOWN GRASS LEYS SKORA can be used to control common chickweed in newly sown grass leys. Application of 0.75 L/ha in a water volume of 200 400 L/ha when the chickweed is actively growing and when the grass has at least 3 leaves will control chickweed up to 50mm. Do not apply to grass undersown with clover or other legume mixtures. ESTABLISHED GRASSLAND SKORA can be used to control common nettle, dandelion, curled and broad-leaved docks, bramble and broom in established permanent and rotational grassland. Application of 2.0 L/ha in a water volume of 300 400 L/ha is necessary to achieve good coverage of the weeds. SKORA may also be applied as a spot treatment but do not exceed 30mls in 10 litres of water. Common nettle should be sprayed when actively growing but before flowering. Note that only a reduction in top growth will be achieved. Dandelion should be sprayed when actively growing but before flowering. Curled and broad-leaved dock should be sprayed when at the rosette stage 15 20cm tall. If recently cut, allow 2-3 weeks for sufficient re-growth before application. Where docks are wellestablished or where a large seed reservoir has built up in the soil, a second application may be required in the following season. Bramble and broom should be sprayed in summer before the onset of senescence. Thoroughly wet all the foliage or only incomplete kill will be achieved.

MIXING Before spraying it is important to check all hoses, filters and nozzles, and to ensure that the sprayer is clean and correctly set to give an even application at the correct volume. Half fill the spray tank with clean water. Add the required quantity of SKORA and begin agitation. Add the remainder of the water and agitate the mixture thoroughly before and during spraying. Spray immediately after mixing. Apply through standard nozzles as a MEDIUM spray as defined by BCPC. When using SKORA in tank-mixture, unless otherwise advised on the partner product label, the preferred order of mixing is water soluble granules (WSG) f.b wettable powders (WP) f.b suspension concentrates (FLs) f. b emulsifiable concentrates (ECs) f. b solution concentrates. Check both labels for compatible recommended timings before using mixtures.
