Safety Instructions. WARNING! When using any electrical appliance, basic safety precautions should always be followed. Before using the Bergman cordless patio weed sweeper for the first time, please be certain to read these instructions carefully. Check that the voltage indicated on the rating plate corresponds with that of the local supply before connecting the appliance to the power supply. This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning safe use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are older than 8 and supervised. The Bergman cordless patio weed sweeper is intended for domestic use only. It should not be used for commercial applications. This appliance contains no user serviceable parts. All repairs should only be carried out by a qualified person. Improper repairs may place the user at risk of harm, and will invalidate any guarantee. Do not operate the appliance after a malfunction or if it has been dropped or damaged in any way. Do not submerge the appliance in water or any other liquids. Do not handle the appliance or plug with damp or wet hands. Keep the appliance and battery out of reach of children under 8 years old. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before connecting to power source and/or battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or energising power tools that have the switch on invites accidents. Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury. Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations. Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts. If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection facilities, ensure these are connected and properly used. Use of dust collectioncan reduces dust-related hazards. Power tool use and care Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed. Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired. Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow person sun familiar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tool s operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Battery tool use and care Recharge only with the charger specified by the manufacturer. A charger that is suitable for one type of battery pack may create a risk of fire when used with another battery pack. Use power tools only with specifically designated battery packs. When battery pack is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects, like paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or other small metal objects, that can make a connection from one terminal to another. Shorting the battery terminals together may cause burns or a fire. Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from the battery; avoid contact. If contact accidentally occurs, flush with water. If liquid contacts eyes, additionally seek medical help. Liquid ejected from the battery may cause irritation or burns. Service Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained. ADDITIONAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR BRUSH Brushes should not be mounted on machines having a speed in excess of the maximum permissible brush speed. Damaged brushes should not be used. Rust discoloration or other signs of chemical or mechanical changes of the fill material may cause premature failure. Brushes should be stored in suitable racks, containers or boxes in such a manner that they are protected against the effects of: o High humidity, heat, water or other liquids with which might cause damage to the brush; o Exposure to acids, or fumes from acids, which might induce deterioration; o Any temperature low enough to cause condensation on the brush when removed from o storage to an area of higher temperature; o Distortion of any of the brush components. ADDITIONAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR PACKING The battery must be removed from the appliance before it is scrapped. The appliance must be disconnected from the supply mains when removing the battery. The battery is to be disposed of safely. Items supplied (fig.3) Open the packaging and take out the appliance with care. Check to see if all items are supplied. Inspect the appliance and accessories for transport damage. If possible, please keep the packaging until the end of the guarantee period. IMPORTANT The appliance and packaging material are not toys. Assembling and adjusting appliance Warning: Please read the instruction manual carefully and follow these instructions before assembling or adjusting the Bergman cordless patio weed sweeper. Please put on protective gloves before assembling or adjust the appliance. Connecting the handle and motor part (fig.4) (fig.5) Insert the lead into the hole on the motor part, and then insert the hand part into the hole. (fig.4) Push the hand part to the suitable location. (fig.10) Insert the crowbar into the hole on the roller and tighten the roller nut while holding the crowbar. Mounting the additional handle (fig.12) Fit the addition handle(1) into the pedestal(2) and adjusting the angle of the addition handle, tighten the addition handle with knob and M6 nut from both sides of the addition handle Adjusting the height (fig.13) Warning Do not adjust the height of the appliance when the motor is running. Doing so increases the risk of serious harm. Loosen the knob (1), With one hand grasp the front part (2) of the handle, and with the other grasp the upper aluminium pipe (3). Catch the telescopic pole plug (2) with one hand, and catch the telescopic top tube (3) with the other hand, adjust to suitable position. Then tighten the knob (1) according to the red arrow direction as below picture showed. 10
Charging the battery (fig.14) The charger included contains two parts: the adaptor (a/b) and the charger pedestal (c). Do not use other type of charger. This charger is only suitable for this type of battery. Please observe the specified voltage, the mains voltage must same as that marked on the rating plate of the battery charger: 230-240 V~50-60 Hz Warning When the battery has run out of charge, the appliance must not be used until the battery is re-charged in full. Please note that the battery will need to be charged for at least 5 hours before first use. Remove the battery from the appliance when placing in storage, and to ensure that the battery is full of electricity, if long time no use, the battery should be charged once every 3 months. Charging Instructions: Check that your mains voltage is the same as that marked on the rating plate of the battery charger. Insert the power plug of the adaptor into the mains socket outlet. The LED (b) on the adapter will turn green. Insert the battery pack into the charger pedestal (c). The LED will turn red to show that the battery is being charged. After the completion of charging, the LED will turn green. Attention: Do not store that battery in the charging pedestal. Keep the battery and charger away from water or any other liquids 11
Reference for use The machine is equipped with a nylon brush and a metal brush. Wire brush is suitable for hard surface and stubborn weed. Nylon brush is used for soft plants and some weeds that is not suitable for wire brush. Important If you are in doubt about the area that you are to clean, please test the unit on a small, inconspicuous area first. Check the brush plate regularly for signs of wear. Replace brushes when badly worn. Always use both hands when operating this appliance. Best results will be gained when using this item at walking speed. Maintenance Warning Before performing any maintenance or adjustments to this appliance, ensure that it is switched off and the battery removed. Keep the appliance away from water and other liquids Always clean the appliance after use. Using a clean cloth to wipe the machine or blow away the dust on the surface of the machine with a dryer. Use a damp cloth to clean the machine regularly.
