Our Strategic Goals 1. A Market-driven standards system that works for consumers and the industry 2. A Single Market approach to testing and certification in the fire safety and security industry 3. Improving fire safety and security in tourist accommodations to prevent unnecessary death and injuries 4. A Europe-wide system to recognize skills and qualifications of personnel working in the industry 5. A single Market for the provision of Services for the fire safety and Security Industry 6. Smart Cities should include aspects of fire Safety and Security 5

Where do we stand? 1. A Market-driven standards system that works for consumers and the industry Euralarm by the EU-Commission was invited to join as one of few Trade Association to join the Joint Initiative on Standardization Active participation of Euralarm in Action 5: CPR Action 8: Action 12: Standards for Services Privileged contacts with CCMC Support from CCMC-Members to resolve issues blocked standards due to CPR Active support by CCMC in the coordination of fire & security standardization activities in other TC s Partnership with CEN & CEELEC BT 6

Where do we stand? 2. A Single Market approach to testing and certification in the fire safety and security industry Bad News: DG home has stopped legislative process on May 9, 2017 Euralarm in direct contact with DG home exploring new possibilities to reach the goal! 3. Improving fire safety and security in tourist accommodations to prevent unnecessary death and injuries Initiative on hold with EU-Parliament du to other priorities (Brexit, Immigration, etc.) Euralarm has already initiated talks with DG Home to explore other possibilities 7

Where do we stand? 4. A Europe-wide system to recognize skills and qualifications of personnel working in the industry Services Section in the fact-finding stage Exchange of experiences and best practices between the members Interesting activities form various national members EU Commission not ready now to discuss sectorial initiatives Euralarm will persist! The way forward will be difficult - we need your support 8

Where do we stand? 5. A single Market for the provision of Services for the fire safety and Security Industry Approval of En 16763 was one of the major successes of Euralarm in the last 5 years! Thank you to all who contributes - incl. ARTS! Implementation in various countries is now underway The national Trade Associations need to have a close look on the implementation and coordinate via the Services Section Use Euralarm to exchange best practices and learn from the other countries The next challenge is a the horizon: NWI - Standard for Remote Services We need the same concentrated effort to make this standard happen! 9

Where do we stand? 6. Smart Cities should include aspects of fire Safety and Security Success of the Euralarm advocacy efforts A City is nor Smart if its not safe & secure become apparent ISO 268 Key performance indicators for smart cities - >10% for safety and security Numerous invitation to Euralarm to present the concept Idea of the Resilient city is accepted and implemented Together we need to continue the effort until safety and security is accepted by all stakeholders Copyright Euralarm 2016 10
