Any commercial use, inappropriate use or failure to comply with the instructions, the manufacturer accepts no responsibility and the guarantee will not apply. Never unplug the appliance by pulling the power cord. Always unplug your appliance: - before filling the water tank or rinsing the boiler, - before cleaning the appliance, - after each use. The appliance will not work without the limescale collector (depending on model). The appliance must be used and placed on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface. When you place the iron on the iron rest, make sure that the surface on which you place it is stable. This appliance is not intended to be used by persons (including children) with reduced or impaired physical, sensory or mental capabilities or persons lacking appropriate knowledge or experience, unless a person responsible for their safety provides either supervision or appropriate instructions concerning use of the appliance prior to its use. Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance. This appliance may be used by children aged 8 or over and 4

persons lacking appropriate knowledge or experience or persons with reduced or impaired physical, sensory or mental capabilities provided that they have been thoroughly instructed regarding use of the appliance, are supervised, and understand the risks involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision. Keep the iron and its cord out of reach of children less than 8 years of age when it is energized or cooling down. The surfaces which are marked with this sign and the soleplate are very hot during the use of the appliance. Do not touch these surfaces before the iron has completely cooled down. Never leave the appliance unattended when it is connected to the mains. Before storing the appliance, once it is unplugged, please wait until it has cooled down (around 1 hour). Do not use any descaling products (vinegar, industrial descaling products, etc.) to rinse the boiler: they may damage the appliance. Before rinsing the boiler/rinsing the anti-calc collector (depending on the model), wait until the appliance is completely cold and has been unplugged for at least 2 hours before unscrewing the boiler rinse cap/ the scale collector cover. Warning: if the boiler cap or the boiler rinse cap (depending on the model), is dropped or severely knocked, have it replaced by an Approved Service Centre, as it may be damaged. Never fill the boiler directly from the tap. 5

The boiler cap must not be opened during use. The appliance must not be used if it has been dropped, if it has any visible damage, if it leaks, or if it functions abnormally in any way. Do not attempt to dismantle your appliance: have it examined at an Approved Service Centre to avoid any danger. Check the electrical power and steam cords for signs of wear or damage prior to use. If the electrical power cord or the steam cord is damaged, it must be replaced by an Approved Service Centre to avoid any danger. Accessories, consumables and end user replaceable parts must be only purchased from an Approved Service Centre. For your safety, this appliance conforms to all applicable regulations (Low Voltage Directive, Electromagnetic Compatibility, Environment, etc). Your steam generator iron is an electrical appliance: it must be used under normal conditions of use. It is designed for domestic use only. It is equipped with 2 safety systems: - a pressure release valve designed to avoid excessive pressure. In the event of malfunction, the valve releases excess steam. - a thermal fuse to avoid overheating. Always plug your steam generator iron: - into a mains circuit with voltage between 220 V and 240 V (Alternating current only), - a socket outlet with an earth connection. Connecting to the wrong voltage may cause irreparable damage to the appliance and will invalidate your guarantee. Do not use an extension lead. If you accept liability for doing so, only use an extension lead which is in good condition, has a plug with an earth connection and is suited to the power rating of the appliance. Completely unwind the power cord before plugging into an earthed socket outlet. The sole plate of your iron and the iron rest on the base unit can reach extremely high temperatures, and can cause burns: do not touch them. Never touch the electrical power cords with the sole plate of the iron. Always use a vented/mesh ironing board to prevent water spots on clothes and to avoid hot steam venting sideways. Your appliance emits steam, which can cause burns. Always handle the iron with care, especially when ironing vertically. Never direct the steam towards people or animals. Never immerse your steam generator iron in water or any other liquid. Never place it under a running tap. What water to use? Tap water: Your appliance has been designed to use tap water. If your water is very hard, mix 50% tap water and 50% bottled demineralised water. In some coastal areas, the salt content of the water may be high. In such cases, use only demineralised water. Water softener: There are several types of water softeners available and most of them can be used in the generator. However, some softeners (especially those that use chemicals such as salt) may cause white or brown streaks. This is often the case when using water from filtering jugs. If you experience this sort of problem, we suggest you try using untreated tap water or bottled water. NB: Never use rain water or water containing additives (such as starch, fragrances or water from household appliances). These additives may affect the properties of the steam, and together with high temperatures can cause deposits to form in the steam chamber which could soil your laundry. PLEASE RETAIN THIS INSTRUCTION BOOKLET FOR FUTURE REFERENCE 6

Environment protection first! i Your appliance contains valuable materials which can be recovered or recycled. Leave it at a local civic waste collection point. Problems with your iron? Problem Possible Causes Solutions Water runs out of the holes in the soleplate. Water streaks appear on the laundry. The water has condensed in the pipes because you are using steam for the first time or you have not used it for some time. Your ironing board cover is saturated with water because it is not suitable for use with a steam generator. Press the steam control button holding the iron away from your ironing board until the iron produces steam Check that your ironing board is suitable (vented/mesh type ironing board to avoid condensation). White streaks come out of the holes in the soleplate. Brown streaks come out of the holes in the soleplate and stain the laundry. The soleplate is dirty or brown and may soil clothes. The soleplate is scratched or damaged. The red "WATER" light is on*. Your water tank has a build-up of scale because it has not been rinsed out regularly You are using chemical descaling products or additives in the ironing water. You are ironing at too high a temperature. You have positioned your iron flat on a metallic iron support or ironed over zips or metal fasteners. The water tank is empty. Rinse the anti-calc collector (see the descaling your generator section or rinse the boiler.(depending on model). Never add any products to the water tank (see section on "What water to use?" ). Clean the soleplate as indicated in the user manual Use a lower temperature. Always stand the iron upright or on the iron rest. Fill the water tank. The "anti-calc" light flashes*. The steam generator does not switch on or the iron indicator light and the "ON-OFF" light are not lit up*. The red "WATER" light is flashing and the "ON- OFF" button does not work*. You have not pressed the "OK" restart button. The "AUTO-OFF" system was activated after 30 minutes of non-use and has switched off your steam generator. The appliance has been stored in a cold place (approximately <10C ). Press the "OK" restart button on the control panel until the light goes out. Press the "ON-OFF" restart button located on the control panel. Unplug the appliance Wait 3 hours for the appliance to reach room temperature. * Depending on model If you have any problems or queries please call our Customer Relations team first for expert help and advice. Preparation What water to use? Tap water: Your appliance has been designed to function using untreated tap water. If your water is very hard, we recommend you use a mix of 50% untreated tap water and 50% distilled water available in most shops. Types of water not to use: Heat concentrates the elements contained in water during evaporation. The types of water listed below may contain organic waste, mineral or chemical elements that can cause spitting, brown staining or premature wear of the appliance: water from clothes dryers, scented or softened water, water from refrigerators, batteries, air conditioners, rain water, boiled, filtered or bottled water. These types of water should not be used in your TEFAL iron. Also only use distilled water as advised above. Always remember: Never use rainwater or water containing additives (like starch, fragrance or water from domestic appliances). Such additives can affect the steam properties and at high temperature, form deposits in the steam station chamber which are likely to stain your washing. Filling the boiler Place your steam station on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface. Check that your appliance is unplugged and cold. Unscrew the boiler cap. Using a water jug, fill with maximum 1 litre of water. Fill the boiler, taking care that the water does not spill over fig.4. If this occurs, remove the excess water. Replace the boiler cap, screwing on firmly, but not over tight. Using your steam station Completely unwind the power cord and the steam cord from its storage space. The first time the appliance is used, there may Tilt the locking ring of the iron forwards to release the safety catch. Plug in your steam station to an earthed socket. be some fumes and smell Press the on/off luminous switch. It comes on and the boiler heats up. but this is not harmful. After approximately 8 minutes or when the steam ready indicator light comes on They will not affect use (according to model), the steam is ready - fig.5. and will disappear rapidly. During ironing the iron s thermostat light and the steam indicator (according to model) will go on and off according to the temperature control.

When starting, and regularly while it is being used. It makes a noise but this is quite normal. You may also hear a clicking noise which is the steam valve opening. Again this is normal. Use Steam ironing Set the iron temperature adjustment dial and the steam flow adjustment dial (according to model) to the type of fabric to be ironed (see table below). The thermostat light comes on. Important: whenever you start using your iron and whenever you reduce the temperature during use, the iron is ready for use when its indicator light goes out and when the green light located on the control panel comes on and remains on. During use, when you increase the temperature of the iron, you can start ironing immediately, but make sure you only increase your steam flow once the iron s light has gone out. To obtain steam, press on the steam control button on the iron handle - fig.6. The steam will stop when you release the button. The steam station and the iron are ready to iron when the steam ready indicator light (according to model) is lit and the iron thermostat dial light has gone out. TYPE OF FABRICS Silk, Synthetics (polyester, acetate, acrylic, polyamide) Silk, Wool Linen, cotton SETTING TEMPERATURE CONTROL SETTING STEAM OUTPUT CONTROL DIAL Mixed fibre fabrics : set the ironing temperature to the setting for the most delicate fabric. Woollen garments : press repeatedly on the steam control button - fig.6 to obtain short bursts of steam, without placing the iron on the garment itself. This will avoid making the fabric shiny. Start with the fabrics to be ironed at a low temperature and finish with those which need higher temperatures ( or Max). To prime the steam circuit, either before using the iron for the first time, or if you have not used the steam function for a few minutes, press the steam control button - fig.6. several times in a row, holding the iron away from your clothes.this will enable any cold water to be removed from the steam circuit. For delicate fabrics, press the steam control button (on the handle of the iron) intermittently to avoid possible water droplets appearing with the steam. If you are using starch, it should be sprayed onto the reverse side of the fabric to be ironed. If you put your thermostat in the min position, the iron does not become hot. ECO MODE (depending on model): Your steam station iron has an ECO mode function which uses less power whilst still guaranteeing a sufficient steam flow for you to iron your garments properly. In order to use this function, once the thermostat of your iron has been correctly set (see table above), position the steam flow setting on the ECO segment - fig.12. The ECO mode can be used on all types of fabrics, however, for very thick or very creased fabrics, we recommend that you use the maximum steam flow for best results. Dry ironing Do not press on the steam control button - fig.6. Vertical steam ironing Set the iron temperature dial and the steam flow adjustment dial (according to model) to the max. position. Hang the garment on a coat hanger and hold the fabric slightly taut with one hand. As steam is very hot : never attempt to remove creases from a garment while it is being worn, always hang garments on a coat hanger. Press repeatedly on the steam control button - fig.6.(on the iron handle) moving the iron from top to bottom - fig.7. 9 For fabrics other than linen or cotton, hold the iron a few centimetres from the garment to avoid burning the fabric.

Never unscrew the boiler cap while it s still steaming. Filling the boiler during use VERY IMPORTANT : Before opening your boiler, ensure that there is no more steam left inside by pressing the steam control button - fig.6 located on the handle of the iron and keep it pressed down until there is no more steam. Stop the steam station by pressing the on/off switch and disconnecting the plug. Slowly unscrew the boiler cap. Using a water jug, fill with maximum 1 litre of water. Fill the boiler fig.4, taking care that the water does not spill over. If this occurs, remove the excess water. Replace the boiler cap, screwing on tightly, reconnect your steam station to the mains, and switch it on. Wait until the boiler heats up. After approximately 8 minutes or when the steam ready indicator light comes on (according to model), the steam is ready. Storing the steam station Warning: do not touch the soleplate while still hot. Fold the carrying arm down onto the iron until it clicks into position, ensuring that your iron is safely locked onto its housing (depending on model). Store the electrical cord in its storage place - fig.8. Storing the steam cord - fig.9. Leave the iron (and the iron rest) to cool down for 1 hour before storing it away. Maintenance and cleaning Before cleaning, ensure that your steam station is unplugged and that the soleplate and the iron rest have cooled down. Do not use detergent or descaling products for cleaning the soleplate or the base unit. Never hold the iron or the base unit under the tap. Cleaning the soleplate Regularly clean the soleplate with a non-metallic sponge. Cleaning the unit Clean the plastic parts of the appliance occasionally with a soft dampened cloth. Rinsing the boiler (once a month) Be careful : To extend the life of your boiler and to avoid the building up of scale, it is essential that you rinse out the boiler at least after every 10 uses (approximately once a month). Check that the steam station is cold and unplugged for more than 2 hours. Using a jug, fill the boiler 3/4 full with untreated tap water- fig.10 Shake the base unit for a few moments and then empty it completely over your sink - fig.11. To obtain the best results, we advise you to repeat this operation. If your water is hard, increase the frequency. In particular, do not use descaling agents for rinsing out the boiler, as they could damage it. 10
