Senior Staff held their weekly meeting on Tuesday, July 17 th, at Headquarters Station 31. On Wednesday, July 18 th, Emergency Management Coordinator Yancey attended Emergency Operations training at Camp Murray. DC Olson attended the Healthy Kids Summit on Wednesday, July 18 th at Auburn City Hall. DC Swearingen attended the South King County Fire Training Consortium (SKCFTC) Training Advisory Committee meeting on Thursday, July 19 th at SKCFTC. VRFA Staff attended the Auburn Community Picnic on Thursday, July 19 th at Gaines Park in North Auburn. IT Manager Smith attended the South King County IT Managers meeting on Friday, July 20 th in Auburn. EM Coordinator Yancey will attend Communications Section training with the City of Auburn on Wednesday, July 25 th at the Auburn EOC. Administrator Robertson will attend the Valley Communications Center (VCC) Operating Board meeting on Thursday, July 26 th at VCC. DC Swearingen will attend the South King County Fire Training Consortium (SKCFTC) Administration Board meeting on Thursday, July 26 th at the SKCFTC. 911 Requests for Services / Customer Service: Aid Call: (Pacific) On Monday, July 16 th at 2:27 p.m., firefighters responded to a middle age male with an altered level of consciousness. The patient was examined by firefighters and King County Medics then transported to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC) by King County Medics. Aid Call: (Algona) On Tuesday, July 17 th at 6:21 p.m., firefighters responded to a report of a young male child that had injured his arm from falling off the monkey bars. Personnel treated the patient and his father transported him to MAMC for an ex-ray as a precaution. Grass Fire: (Auburn) On Wednesday, July 18 th at 6:57 p.m., firefighters responded to a grass fire that was started by a malfunctioning lawn mower. The fire spread from the grass to a nearby fence, but was partially extinguished by neighbors prior to the arrival of VRFA firefighters. Smoke Investigation: (Lea Hill) On Thursday, July 19 th at 2:30 p.m., firefighters responded to a smoke investigation. Searching the area, firefighters located the source. Homeowners were burning yard debris. The family was notified of the King County burn ban due to dry conditions. The fire was extinguished, and the family was grateful for the notification. Motor Vehicle Accident: (Auburn) On Friday, July 20 th at 8:08 p.m., firefighters responded to a vehicle rollover accident along Eastbound Highway 18. An adult female and two juvenile females were treated by firefighters. One juvenile female was transported by King County Medics to Harborview Medical Center for an abdomen injury. Other occupants were transported to MAMC for minor injuries by private ambulance. Aid Call: (South Auburn) On Saturday, July 21 st at 11:00 a.m., firefighters were dispatched to an adult female who was not responding to friends and 2

family. Firefighters arrived to find the patient breathing normally however, not responding to verbal commands. Firefighters determined that her vital signs were stable and required she be transported to a local hospital. VRFA aidunit transported her to MAMC for further evaluation and care. Water Rescue: (Green River Gorge) On Sunday, July 22 nd at 5:47 p.m., firefighters responded mutual aid to assist with a young adult female that had fallen off a fifty foot cliff into the Green River. Crews pulled the patient from the river and brought her to the parking area. She was then transported by King County Medics to the waiting Airlift Northwest Helicopter for transport to Harborview Medical Center. Training Division Activities: Year 2017 2018 Weekly 163 782 Year to Date 14,861 17,940 Block 4 Live Fire: This was week 3 of a 4 - week Live Fire training block. In this training multiple companies from agencies throughout the region meet at the drill tower to perform fire operations. This allows command officers the ability to practice meeting tactical objectives and coordinating resources on fire incidents. This allows companies to perform operation in real time and work on proper techniques to use to accomplish tactical objectives, and provides an outstanding opportunity for crews to use techniques and tactic in a safe learning environment. Training Advisory Meeting: On Thursday the Training Advisory Committee met. This committee is made of members from all 11 training partners and their goal is to research and recommend changes to the training curriculum to include our Firefighter Fundamentals manual. The committee meets on a quarterly basis and is a great conduit for departments to contribute ideas or practices that they would like to be included. Fire Marshal s Office Business Fire & Life Safety Inspections: Certified Fire Inspectors completed 26 business safety inspections this week. Company Level Inspections completed this week: 89 Annual Fire & Life Safety Inspections completed this week: 115 New Business Licenses entered into the system: 3 Completed and Emailed Life Safety Reports: 0 Business Re-inspections completed: 2 3

Public Education PIEO staff and team members provided live fire extinguisher training for a group of apartment managers from the Nieders Company. PIEO staff picked up smoke alarms from World Vision in Fife. A kids water safety activity and booth was staffed at the Auburn Farmer s Market Kids Day. PIEO staff worked on program improvement proposals for 2019. PIEO staff continued to recruit for the remaining summer events. Posts were made to social media sites regarding a five year service pin presentation, call volume, Fill the Boot, and brush fire prevention. 4

Planning and Logistics P&L received 3 apparatus and 6 facility/small tool maintenance requests. New Thermal Imaging Cameras have been ordered and received. The new TICs will go on engines and aid cars. P&L reorganized PPE storage to improve efficiency and inventory. An Interlocal Agreement was signed by South Snohomish Fire and Rescue (SSF&R) for the purpose of purchasing a new Pierce Fire pumper. It will allow SSF&R to piggyback onto the VRFA contract with Hughes Fire Equipment. Repairs were made to the air compressor at Station 31. P&L is working on the 2019 budget. 5
