RECOMMENDED ENCLOSURES The following table contains what we here at Savard have determined to be the optimum enclosure design for each of our woofers. Optimum to us means a cabinet that can be easily constructed, uses minimum resources (both cash and time) and will produce a good all around bass response. Due to the extreme versatility of Savard Speakers, this chart should not be considered The Bible of enclosure designs. It is only a good starting place to design your enclosure. IF you want an enclosure to produce an extremely low response, extremely High SPL (on a meter), isobaric, band-pass or any other enclosure design, your dealer will be able to provide additional information or audiosupport@savardgroup.net. DO NOT use enclosure design recommendations from other manufacturers. DO NOT let your sister-in-laws best friends brothers uncle convince you he can design a better enclosure (unless of course he is a Savard dealer). Our designs are time tested and will work for you. Note that some designs are ported and some are sealed. Please follow these designs closely for your particular speaker. If you have already designed and/or built your cabinet, just pick out the driver that will work best for your enclosure (some slight modifications may be necessary). WOOFER PARAMETERS SAVARD has established a reference for Thiele-Small Parameters that offer a more realistic picture of how a speaker will perform in the enclosure you design. We call it RTP Standards. We have found that most parameters supplied by manufacturers are of the speaker BEFORE break-in. This poses a problem. Parameters change with temperature, as well as after break in. SAVARD Parameters are taken by state of the art test equipment in a stable environment of 75 & 80 degrees and anticipate a minimum 4 hour break in, so that the picture you see when using a computer design program will be a more accurate portrayal of what you will actually hear. SAVARD specs are much more conservative than those of other manufacturers. We have seen as much as a 70% decrease in projected SPL, but we believe that it is our responsibility to provide you with real-time parameters, as you will experience in daily use.
