The Transit March 2019 Presentation Information Topic: Shaping Our Future Growth Alternatives Analysis: Overview of Key Findings & Recommendations Presenter: Sherry Barrett Bio: In her role as Land Policy Manager at Upstate Forever, Sherry Barrett focuses primarily on land use issues in the rapidly growing Upstate counties of Greenville and Spartanburg. As a part of the Upstate Forever team she also works on other strategies and initiatives to achieve organizational goals. Sherry first came to Upstate Forever as a member and volunteer. Originally from Georgia, she and her husband Richard lived in New England, the Midwest, North Carolina and Virginia and raised two children before establishing roots in the Upstate. Sherry earned a Master of Landscape Architecture from Virginia Tech with a focus on community design. The American Society of Landscape Architects awarded her a Certificate of Merit in recognition of the body of work accomplished in her program. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Georgia and a Certificate in Advanced Geographic Information Systems from Greenville Technical College. As Program Coordinator for the Community Design Assistance Center at Virginia Tech, Sherry worked on conceptual community design projects including greenway routing, downtown streetscape and town entry designs, and land-use analysis and design proposals. As a Landscape Designer with Site Design, Inc. in Greenville, she worked on large-scale planned unit developments, as well as site-scale commercial, residential, corporate and public space projects. The 11 th Annual 4 th Grade Challenge Program Popsicle Stick Bridge Event on March 9 th was a huge success, hosting 51 schools with 1,265 students and testing 374 bridges. It is only by the help of our volunteers and the following 2019 sponsors that this event was made possible! Thank you!
