RESISTANCE WARNING SALUTE WDG is a group code 11 fungicide. Any fungus population may contain individuals naturally resistant to SALUTE WDG and other group code 11 fungicides. The resistant individuals can eventually dominate the fungus population if these fungicides are used repeatedly and exclusively in programs. These resistant fungi may not be controlled by SALUTE WDG or any other group code 11 fungicides. To delay fungicide resistance: avoid exclusive repeated use of fungicides from the same fungicide group code. Alternate or tank-mix with products from different fungicide group codes, for tank mixing or alternation with products in fungicide group codes X and Y, refer to applicable individual product labels, integrate other control methods (chemical, cultural, biological) into disease control programs. For specific information on resistance management contact the Registration Holder. DIRECTIONS FOR USE: Use only as directed. Compatibility: SALUTE WDG is compatible with Mancozeb and POLYRAM WG (L 5268) and most commonly used modern insecticides. Refer to the respective Mancozeb labels for directions regarding its use for the control of Apple- and Pear Scab. Mixing instructions: Measure the required volume of SALUTE WDG, pre-mix in at least 10 litres of water, before adding to the spray tank. Fill the spray tank with water to the final volume required, while maintaining agitation, to ensure thorough mixing of the spray mixture, before spraying commences. Maintain agitation while spraying. Prepared spray mixture must not be left in the spray tank for any length of time, e.g. overnight. Rainfastness: SALUTE WDG is not easily washed off by rain after it has dried on the crop. Rainfall up to 20 mm, one day after application, will normally not negatively affect the fungicidal activity of the product. Applications: With the introduction of strobilurine fungicides, such as SALUTE WDG, a new application concept, the block -concept is proposed. On this label, reference to a block means a series of 2 to 3 consecutive treatments with a strobilurine fungicide. In order to optimize the fungicidal activity of the product it is very important to apply SALUTE WDG according to the ANTI-RESISTANCE STRATEGY rules as given below. FRAC anti-resistant strategy: For the control of Apple- & Pear Scab, the following FRAC (Fungicide Resistance Action Committee) guidelines are essential to adhere to: FRAC guidelines for the control of Apple- & Pear Scab: 1. Apply QoI fungicides according to manufacturer's recommendations for the target disease (or complex) at the specific crop growth stage indicated and adapted to size of trees. Effective disease management is a critical parameter in delaying the build-up of resistant pathogen populations. 2. QoI fungicides must only be applied in mixture with partners contributing to the effective control of the target pathogens. 3. Apply QoI fungicides preventively. Under high disease pressure the spray interval should not exceed 7 to 10 days. 4. Apply a maximum of 3 QoI containing sprays per crop, per season. A maximum of 4 QoI fungicide applications may be applied where 12 or more applications are performed per crop, per season. 5. A maximum of 2 consecutive QoI fungicide sprays is preferred. Where field performance was adversely affected apply QoI containing fungicides in mixtures in strict alternation with fungicides from a different group codes. GENERAL SALUTE WDG is characterised by a special mode of transport and uptake action with long lasting effect and translaminar activity. It is not harmful to bees. SALUTE WDG PAGE 3 OF 6
Apply according to Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and antiresistant management programmes. Apply SALUTE WDG in principle on a preventive basis. Use other registered fungicides, with a mode of action that differs from strobilurines, for the remainder of the spray programme. The last fungicide application of the season should not be carried out with a strobilurine fungicide. APPLES AND PEARS Refer to the respective Mancozeb label for directions regarding its use for the control of Apple- and Pear Scab. Adhere to the FRAC guidelines above. High Volume applications: The water volume to be applied per hectare should be calculated according to the Tree Row Volume (TRV) formula described by Unrath (Deciduous Fruit Grower Nov. 1986): l / ha = Tree height x Tree depth x 937 Row Width The above formula indicates the required volume of water for High Volume (HV) applications when the trees are in full leaf. Based on the above formula the following water volumes are recommended for the various growth stages: Growth stage % HV water requirement per hectare Greentip - 30 % of full blossom 60 % Full blossom - middle November 80 % From beginning of December 100 % Low Volume applications When Low Volume sprays are applied, the dosage rate of SALUTE WDG per 100 litres water must be increased in order to maintain the same amount of fungicide applied per hectare, as in the case of a High Volume application. Use the above formula and growth stage table to calculate the required amount of SALUTE WDG per hectare. CUCURBITS SALUTE WDG must be applied on a preventive basis. Start SALUTE WDG applications as early in the season as possible. Apply a maximum of three (3) SALUTE WDG or group code 11(Qol) containing fungicides per crop per season. Do not apply more than 1/3 of the total number of applications per season with SALUTE WDG or any other group code 11 (Qol containing) fungicides. Do not use consecutive applications of SALUTE WDG or group code 11 (Qol) containing fungicides. GRAPES Apply preventively before an infection period occurs. Apply a maximum of three (3) SALUTE WDG sprays per vine, per season. If the programme applications on vines exceed 12 (twelve) fungicide applications or more, a maximum of four (4) SALUTE WDG or group code 11 (Qol) containing fungicides are permitted, per season. Within a spray programme, apply SALUTE WDG single or in a block, in alteration with fungicides from different group codes. Table grapes: SALUTE WDG may be applied as a High or a Low volume application. The dosage rate per 100 litres as recommended in the Application table is intended for a high volume application. In case of Low Volume applications, the dosage rate per 100 litres should be increased, in order to apply the same amount of product per hectare as in the case of the High Volume application. SALUTE WDG PAGE 4 OF 6
Wine grapes: SALUTE WDG may be applied as indicated for table grapes. It is also possible to lengthen the spray intervals while spraying at increased rates as indicated in the Application table. High volume applications for table- and wine grapes. Spray to the point of run-off ensuring even coverage. Apply the following water volumes depending on the leaf area present: Growth stage Water volume in litres per hectare Shoots 2 to 5 cm long up to before blossom 350 to 500 Blossom to pea-size berries 500 to 1000 Pea-size berries up to harvest 1000 to 1500 Low Volume applications The amount of product needed per hectare should be calculated from the corresponding High Volume application. The concentration of the spray mixture should not exceed four times (4 x) the concentration as recommended for the High Volume application. Apply in at least 250 litres water per hectare. Ensure even coverage. ROSES SALUTE WDG must be applied on a preventive basis. Start SALUTE WDG applications as early in the season as possible. Apply SALUTE WDG in up to two blocks of 2 to 3 consecutive sprays each. Do not apply more than three (3) consecutive sprays with SALUTE WDG or any other strobilurine per block. Separate the first and second SALUTE WDG-blocks by spraying at least twice with registered fungicides with modes of action which differ from the mode of action of strobilurines, e.g. MELTATOX, (L 460). The total number of SALUTE WDG applications per season, should not be more than 1/3 (33 %) of the total number of fungicide applications per season. Apply SALUTE WDG as a medium to High Volume application in 750 to 1500 litres water per hectare. Ensure even coverage of the crop. MANGOES SALUTE WDG must be applied on a preventive basis. Do not apply more than three (3) SALUTE WDG applications of the total number of applications per season or any other group code 11 (Qol) containing fungicide. The last fungicide application in the season should NOT be of the Group Code 11 (Qol) containing fungicides.
