Adjustments SASH ROLLERS Once patio door has been installed, there are instances where adjustments to the sash rollers must be made in order to achieve proper functionality of your operating sash(es). The adjustment screws which control the height of the sash(es) rollers are hidden behind easy to remove screw covers. After the screw covers are removed, using a screwdriver (Robertson or Phillips) or in some cases a hex key, tighten or loosen sash roller screws to adjust height/angle of sash(es). Re-insert screw covers when roller adjustments are complete. SASH/SCREEN KEEPER The operating sash should be in-line with the sash keeper (installed onto operating jamb), which allows the sash(es) to properly engage in the locked position when desired. If the sash has difficulty engaging in a locked position, it may be the keeper that needs adjusting. The sash keeper has 2 screws, which can be loosened, thus allowing adequate height adjustments to be made (Applicable for screen keeper). ADJUSTEMENTS PAGE: 4 / 23

Adjustments SCREEN ROLLERS If the patio door was purchased with a bug screen(s), your new screen(s) may need minor adjustments depending on installation and rolling preferences. Locate the desired adjustment screw(s) which are present at each corner of the screen assembly. Using a screwdriver (Robertson or Phillips ), tighten or loosen the screw(s) in order to adjust the screen(s) to a desired height and/or preferred rolling ability. Care & Upkeep HARDWARE The hardware on your patio door is essential to its look and functionality. Ranging from handles and locking systems to sash rollers and footlocks, it is imperative that all these components are kept in good condition. With the use of a household cleaner, diluted with water, wipe clean any dust, dirt or grease from the surface of these parts. Be sure to rinse away any detergent/soap residue with water. GLASS Due to the daily use of your patio door, it is inevitable that the tempered glass of your patio door will become dirty and in need of some cleaning. It is important to note that cleaning the glass surface is very simple, yet being too rough, could result in accidental damage. Materials Needed: - Spray Bottle - Clean Water - Dish Soap - Soft Sponge - Microfiber Cloth (or other non-abrasive cloth) Pour equal amounts of water and dish soap into a spray bottle. Be sure to shake the bottle vigorously before use. Spray the section of the glass you would like to clean. It is recommended to concentrate on smaller sections you would like to clean rather than spraying the whole surface at once. After spraying, wait a few seconds before using a soft sponge to wipe the sprayed area clean. Once the sprayed section has been wiped clean with a sponge, using a microfiber cloth, gently buff the glass in a circular motion to dry. Be sure to keep in mind that by being too agressive or unknowingly moving an abrasive material/particle along the surface of the glass can lead to scratches and further damage. This is why a microfiber cloth is recommended but any other non-abrasive cloth will work. Once the desired section is buffed dry, you may repeat these steps on other sections of glass until you are satisfied with the results. FRAMES Much like other components of a patio door, the frame and sashes should be cleaned regulary so that they can continue looking great and operating at the highest level. Royal Patio Doors are fabricated using high quality, low maintenance vinyl. The vinyl is easy to clean and durable enough to withstand all the elements. - Do not paint the vinyl pieces of the door; this may cause the door to not function properly. - Clean the vinyl pieces using soap and a microfiber cloth. Never use abrasive cleansers/solvents or steel wool; they may affect the products polish. CARE & UPKEEP PAGE: 6 / 23

Care & Upkeep SASH & SCREEN TRACKS Keeping your patio doors' rolling tracks well lubricated and clean, will ultimately lead to better functionality of your product. The tracks should always be free of debris or other materials which can hinder the rolling of your operating sash(es). Materials Needed: - Silicone Spray - Rubbing Alcohol - rag - Vacuum To make cleaning the tracks easier, it is recommended that the operating sash(es) be temporarily removed from the frame, thus allowing you to better inspect and clear the tracks of potential debris. Once the operating sash(es) has been removed from frame, tip panel to on its side so that the sash rollers are visible. Scrape off any excess dirt that may have gotten stuck to sash rollers and wipe them clean with the rubbing alcohol. This will help the sash(es) roll better. Now that the sash rollers are clean, vacuum out any loose debris and dirt from the sill track. Your track should always be kept free of any loose parts, as having something blocking the track can be harmful to the rolling of the sash(es). After debris has been vacuumed/removed, proceed to wipe track clean with rubbing alcohol. Fixed Sash Screen Track Vinyl / Aluminum Door Frame Sash Track Aluminum Now that the sash rollers and tracks are clean, spray some silicone lubricant onto a clean rag/cloth and then wipe across the length of the aluminum sash track. Make sure to not spray any silicone lubricant onto glass as it can be very hard to remove. Also avoid spraying the lubricant directly onto the sash rail because overspray can lead to grease buildup, which will need to be wiped off. CARE & UPKEEP PAGE: 7 / 23

Care & Upkeep WEEP HOLES & WEEP HOLE COVERS DOES NOT APPLY TO ALL DOOR MODELS The weep holes are designed to assure a quick drainage of any water that may build up in the patio doors' tracks. These small holes can sometimes be clogged with dirt and debris or be accidentally sealed shut with caulking. If this is the case, they must be cleared of any debris immediately in order to keep the door functioning properly. It recommended to check the weep holes periodically for obstruction of passages and malfunctioning weep hole covers. Weep Hole Weep Hole Cover DOOR SCREEN Sill For light cleaning, you may use an upholstery brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner to remove any dust and debris from your screen(s) surface. Remove screen(s) from track and lay it down on a flat surface. Once flat, you may gently vacuum across the screens surface. It is important to be careful when doing this, as to not puncture any holes or accidently bend the aluminum screen's frame. For heavier cleaning, a different method can be applied. Preferebly outdoors, lay the screen onto a flat surface and using a low pressure washer/hose rinse the screen thoroughly. Apply a mixture of soap and water to the screen surface and let it soak for a couple of minutes, then repeat rinsing process and let the screen dry before reinserting into door frame. *During winter months, where patio door use is restricted because of snow or intense cold, we recommend removing and storing the screens indoors. Condensation & Humidity WHAT IS CONDENSATION? Condensation is the conversion of water vapor to liquid water, once it comes into contact with a solid cooler surface (ie: Vinyl or Glass surface). Condensation is often referred to as, ''the opposite of evaporation'', because instead of water evaporating into the air, it converts back to its liquid form. Condensation can be seen on the interior or exterior surface of the glass units, it is represented by a body of clowdy water droplets that can obstruct visibility, drip onto the homeowners floor, and in extreme cold temperatures, frost or even freeze. It can also lead stained woodwork and mold growth, and can be detrimental to ones health. CAUSES There are many factors in a home that help lead to condensation. - Cooking with all windows/doors closed - Washing/Drying - Showering - Multiple persons in a tight space/room All the causes above raise the relative humidity level in a home, and in turn, help accelerate the condensation process. CONTROLLING HUMIDITY In order to control and keep condensation to a minimum, these are various methods that are known to reduce the relative humidity levels in a home. - Opening patio doors/windows for better air circulation - Turning on the ventilation fan when cooking - Making sure the dryer is ventilating air to the outside of the home - Turning on fan when bathing - Do not close off rooms, making sure air circulates throughout home - Raising indoor heat temperature, as heat lowers humidity levels - Use a dehumidifyer to decrease humidity levels Outside Temperature -30 C -30 C to -25 C -25 C to -18 C -18 C to -12 C -12 C to -06 C -6 C to 0 C Recommended % of Relative Humidity 15% Maximum 20% Maximum 25% Maximum 30% Maximum 35% Maximum 40% Maximum CONDENSATION & HUMIDITY PAGE: 9 / 23

Air Infiltration PREVENTING AIR INFILTRATION Royal Patio Doors are industry leaders for air tightness. The sealed assembly joints ensure that Royal Patio Doors meet the most demanding energy efficiency criteria. Air infiltration arises when a patio doors weather-seals (dust pads, weatherstrips, ect.) fail. Faulty weather-seals on a patio door can be extremely frustrating. A faulty weather-seal invites cold air into the home, while letting warmer air exit through the very same passages. During the winter months, electrical bills may increase and the home can become unpleasantly frigid. Air infiltration can prove to be costly unless the proper steps are taken to prevent it. Here are some tips for reducing air infiltration and keeping your patio door energy efficient. - Proper patio door Installation - Verify that weatherstrips, dust pads and plugs are correctly installed - If any weather-seals are damaged, have them replaced immediately A damaged weatherstrip will not prevent air infiltration, any weathstrip that is, cracked, flattened, worn out, or simply not properly inserted in weatherstrip cavity, should be removed and re-installed or replaced entirely. WEATHERSTRIP It is recommended to inspect weatherstripping and make sure they are not damaged in any way. A damaged/loose weatherstrip will not properly prevent air/water infiltration and may lead to future issues with regards to patio door functionality. While checking your door for air infiltration you may discover that a damaged or loose weatherstrip is at the root of your problem. Over time, weatherstripping tends to wear out and lose its effectiveness and may need to be replaced. On a patio door there are sometimes a variety of weatherstrips that are used in different locations, all strategically placed to ensure optimal energy efficiency. It is important to let your patio door technician/supplier know which weatherstrip is damaged so that they can service you with proper replacement parts. If a weatherstrip is loose but not damaged, you can personally place it back into position following these simple steps: 1- Carefully remove weatherstrip from cavity 2- Apply a small bead of sealant into weatherstrip cavity 3- Reinstall weatherstrip 4- Place a small piece of tape over weatherstrip to secure it in place 5- Remove tape once sealant has cured (follow sealant manufacturers curing directions) AIR INFILTRATION PAGE: 10 / 23

Glossary Dust Pad / Plug A dust pad/plug is a piece of pile weatherstripping that is applied to a certain passage on a patio door frame. It is used to prevent infiltration of air, dust and light. Energy Efficient Being energy efficient is the process of reducing the amount of energy required to run or maintain certain products / services. For example, making sure your patio door weatherstrips are all working correctly will help keep your homes heating costs down. Frame The base structure of a patio door. The frame consists of the head, operating jamb, fixed jamb and sill. Insulated Glass Unit A glass unit which consists of 2 or 3 panes of glass. Each pane is separated by an area filled with air or other types of gas. Insulated glass saves energy, and reduces the heat transfer through a building envelope (Patio door, Windows). Keeper The component which the locking mechanism latches onto. Fixed on the operating jamb it is used to keep the operating sash in a secure, locked position. Roller The rollers are what make the sash or screen slide across the sill tracks with ease. The roller assembly includes a housing, bearings and an adjustment screw. Sash A panel which is inserted into the patio door frame. A sash can either be fixed to the frame or be aloud to slide across the doors tracks. Sashes can be welded or mechanically assembled. Weatherstrip A material which is installed onto patio door/window components to prevent water and air infiltration from entering the home. Weatherstrips are developped for all different types of applications and come in different many different colors and sizes. Weep Hole A small opening which is punched out at the bottom of the frame or sash. These openings are created to let accumulated water drain out easily from assemblies. Weep Hole Cover A cover that fits into pre-existing weep holes. These covers have small vents that allow for automatic opening and closing of the weep hole passage. GLOSSARY PAGE: 11 / 23
