Networking in line with Industry 4.0 also allows the especially efficient production of compressed air. Powtech is a specialist trade fair for process technology and analysis machinery being held in Nuremberg from 26 to 28 September. Essen, September 2017. At Powtech, which is being held in Nuremberg from 26 to 28 September, Atlas Copco is exhibiting energy-efficient solutions for pneumatic conveying using oil-free compressed air and vacuum (Hall 4 Stand 4-257). We want to discuss secure compressed air supplies and possibilities of central data logging in line with Industry 4.0 with visitors to the trade fair, says Michael Gaar, Communications Manager of Atlas Copco Kompressoren und Drucklufttechnik GmbH in Essen. He adds that the Industry 4.0 approach includes the central control of entire plants and the intelligent utilization of machine data by Atlas Copco s Smartlink software. This remote monitoring system optimizes our customers compressed air systems, saving energy costs, Gaar emphasizes. The program integrates all compressors, blowers, vacuum pumps and dryers in one network, which means that the plant automatically issues a signal to those responsible in the event of malfunctions Atlas Copco Kompressoren und Drucklufttechnik Atlas Copco Kompressoren und Drucklufttechnik GmbH Langemarckstraße 35 45141 Essen Tel.: +49 (0)201 21 77-0 Fax: +49 (0)201 21 69 17 Hotline Industrievermietung +49 (0)800 4 000 111 Geschäftsführer: Dirk Villé HR B Essen 1792 UID DE 8 111 55668 Bank: SEB AG SEB Merchant Banking Postfach 10 02 51 45002 Essen Hotline Service: +49 (0)1802 00 00 21 Info.Kompressoren@de.atlascopco.com www.atlascopco.de Frankfurt / Main (BLZ 512 202 00) Konto 300 5800 8

With its comprehensive overview of compressed air systems, Smartlink can generate preliminary warning signals, allowing potential problems to be avoided. Variable speed drive multiple claw vacuum pumps up to 1,260 m³/h intake volume flow Machines shown by Atlas Copco in Nuremberg include the new DZM series of dry multiple claw vacuum pumps which are especially well-suited for conveying bulk materials. These units feature low-noise operation and a user-friendly plug and play configuration. The DZM pumps can reach intake volume flow rates up to 1,260 m³/h and can also be used as central vacuum stations for handling or extrusion processes. As the claw-shaped rotors, which rotate in opposite directions, do not make contact with each other or the pump chamber, these vacuum pumps are highly reliable and feature long service lives. Depending on the flow rate required, the Atlas Copco DZM models combine between two and four of the well-known DZS claw pumps in one compact housing. The pumps have an oil-free air-cooled design and require very little maintenance even in harsh environments. In each case, one of the pumps forming part of a DZM is operated with variable speed drive, allowing the vacuum to be adapted precisely to demand. This efficiency improvement reduces the power required and therefore also the energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions. Pressures as low as 140 mbar absolute can be reached. Michael Gaar emphasizes that the multiple pump system, which was launched recently, is compact, mobile, space-saving and more cost-effective than alternative systems which need to be assembled and installed at customers plants. Efficient, oil-free screw blowers for pneumatic conveying As an example of efficient compressed air supply systems, Atlas Copco is also showing its ZS 26 VEA-800 blowers. Users needing oil-free operating and process air for pneumatic conveying or fermentation find an efficient, secure-process solution for compressed air supplies in the series. The model on display reaches an operating pressure of 800 mbar gauge. The ZS series features extremely low energy costs,
Powtech: Atlas Copco shows efficient compressed air and vacuum solutions 3/7 which account for up to 80 percent of total life cycle costs, Gaar explains. Users can expect minimum downtimes and very low maintenance expenses as the technology behind our screw blowers is just as innovative as it is reliable. He adds that an oilfree screw element with a special coating is used. Together with the precise synchronizing gearbox, this ensures high reliability and a long service life. In contrast to rotary lobe blower technology, it is not necessary to replace either the belt or the belt pulley with screw technology. This also reduces maintenance costs and prolongs the service life of the unit. Even in humid and dusty environments, Atlas Copco states that the high-efficiency IE 3 motor operates extremely efficiently. The air intake filter removes 99.9% of particles from a size of 3 µm from the air flow. Oil-free to class 0 Like all Z-series compressors from Atlas Copco, ZS blowers deliver 100% oil-free compressed air and are certified to class 0 in accordance ISO 8573-1 (2010). Class 0 means no risk of contamination, no risk of damaged or defective products, no risk of losses caused by equipment downtimes and no risk of jeopardizing a producer s hardearned reputation. Two years ago, Atlas Copco already introduced a food safety management system at its compressor plant in Belgium and the company was then awarded an ISO 22000 certificate. This food safety management system applies to the design and manufacture of compressors and compressed air treatment equipment. Specifically, the system covers all Class 0 oil-free compressors and blowers in the Z series as well as appropriate dryers and filters for the food and beverage industry. Low vibration, low pulsation rotary lobe blowers In addition to the extremely efficient ZS blowers, Atlas Copco is also exhibiting a ZL 500 rotary lobe blower for pressure rises from 300 to 1000 mbar at Powtech. The ZL series consists of low-noise blowers with low vibrations and pulsations. Each unit is delivered as a complete package ready for operation. The range of ZL blowers covers 20 intake flow rates from 100 to more than 10,000 m³/h. These blowers support the

They operate reliably, without interruption round the clock. The compressor element is equipped with two three-lobe rotors in an overall housing running at the same speed in opposite directions thanks to a synchronizing gearbox. They maintain a high-precision clearance between each other and between the rotors and the wall of the housing. As a result, no internal lubrication is needed and the air remains 100% oil-free. Traditionally, positive displacement blowers are equipped with two-lobe rotors. In contrast, the ZL series uses three-lobe rotors which operate in an energy-saving way and deliver a more constant discharge flow. To further reduce pressure pulsation, special channels are milled into the housing of the blower to pre-fill the downstream chamber. This system prolongs the service life of all moving parts and also protects the conveyor system from undesirable pulsation. Pulsation reduction has further advantages with respect to the blower internals; less vibration is transmitted to the bearings, which prolongs their service life. Simply hire compressors and generators to meet short-term needs On its Powtec stand, Atlas Copco is also presenting its equipment hire service: Customers who need additional compressed air or electric power for a short time can hire compressors and generators of all types from us. This is a quick and easy process, Michael Gaar explains. Within a few hours, we can eliminate almost any bottleneck in compressed air supplies. He says that it is irrelevant whether the equipment hired is needed to replace a station that has failed or whether production is to be expanded on a temporary basis. Customers do not need to purchase a new machine but can obtain the latest equipment from Atlas Copco for a reasonable rent. In addition to compressors and generators, we also hire all the dryers, hoses and adapters that are needed, says Gaar. And we provide round-the-clock support to our customers for the entire duration of the hire.
