Nexans Kabelmetal Exports 180 Kilometres of Cable to South Korea Nexans Kabelmetal achieved a milestone in its local content obligation to the Oil and Gas industry with the production and exportation of over 180kilometres of shipboard Lighting /Accommodation Cables to the shipbuilding yards of Samsung Heavy Industries and Hyundai Heavy Industries in South Korea respectively. These low voltage cables are to be used in the construction of six (6) carrier vessels for Nigeria LNG s operations. This feat was specially acknowledged by NLNG during their just concluded Vendor s Forum in Port-Harcourt. In executing this project, Nexans created a custom designed shipboard cable to meet the design/specifications for this world class project. As requirement for its production, Nexans Kabelmetal s production process was audited by Bureau Veritas and Lloyds Register (two of the best Class Certification agents in the world) respectively. It was only after the approval of these agencies were obtained that approval was given for the production of the cables. Nexans Kabelmetal therefore looks forward to a continuation of this partnership with the Oil & Gas industry, as well as the Building and Infrastructure industries and the Power Utilities. NEXANS KABELMETAL NIGERIA Participated In The NEXANS GROUP SAFETY DAY Nexans Kabelmetal Nigeria Plc joined other members of the Nexans Group worldwide, to celebrate the Group Safety Day. The event was held on the 17th of June,2014 in the Nexans Kabelmetal Nigeria Plc premises. The Group Safety Day, with the theme THINK SAFE, ACT SAFE, BE SAFE was attended by all the staff of the company. It afforded every employee the opportunity of being reminded of the importance of safety in the workplace, at home and in any place they may find themselves. The event started with an AWARENESS SPEECH which was given by Mr. Robert Kretschmer, the Managing Director of Nexans Kabelmetal Nigeria Plc. He informed all about the goal of the Safety Day, which includes creation of safety awareness through the Nexans plant all over the world and offering of a conducive environment for staff, customers and neighbors that is free of accident. A Safety Talk titled SAFETY AND SECURITY: AN OVERVIEW was delivered by the Quality Assurance / HSE Manager, Mr. Michael Fadipe. He started by stating the objectives of the lecture which includes identifying different types of security / safety breach and taking appropriate measures to counter or prevent occurrence, detecting and preventing security / safety breach to the barest minimum, carrying out security / safety measures to protect self during attacks and maintaining good human relations and security / safety ethics while on duty. He ended by stating the Nexans10 Safety Rules for Offices. Professionals from various fields were present to deliver papers on various health and safety matters. Dr. Oguntade Babajide Emmanuel, the Principal Medical Officer of Crystal Specialist Hospital, Akowonjo, Lagos led a team of experts to the event and presented a paper on OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY. He stressed the importance of adhering to all health and safety rules in order to remain whole throughout the working hours in the company. During the various talks, nurses were present taking the Blood Pressure of all the staff and people were advised accordingly. The Chief Officer of MAN Fire Services, Alhaji S. A. Ayinde took all the members of staff of the company on a fire drill after he had educated all on the types of fire and fire extinguishers that should be used to extinguish the different types of fire. In fighting fire with a fire extinguisher, the word PASS was used as an acronym to represent P Pull out the pin at the top of the fire extinguisher, A Aim at the fire against the direction of the wind, S Strike or squeeze the handle of the fire extinguisher and S Sweep the fire from its base. The Nexans Group Safety Day was well attended. It is hoped that the objectives of the event will be achieved as all members of staff take the issue of safety as a personal priority. 2

It was an interesting and innovative solution that was accepted by the Shell Engineers and Onshore/Shallow Offshore Major Project Teams. The ELECTRICAL SAFETY CONFERENCE AND EXHIBITION was worth attending. It impressed on SHELL Engineers what Nexans is doing to reduce risk of damages to electrical cables due to the presence of hydrocarbons, acids or alkaline compounds. They were made to understand that the traditional cables with lead sheath is a pollutant which no longer meets the criteria drawn up for sustainable development in the Oil and Gas industry. The Nexans new developed cables (HYPRON CABLES) which withstand unleaded aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons will soon receive great attention in the Oil and Gas industry through RFQ which SHELL promised to send in the near future. 4
