sthysdf Hello. We re
69!... and we ve been building awesome stuff since
WE RE THE BUSINESS! BOOM! GHM are a talented bunch of architects, brimming with creativity, charisma and style. We are not just a safe pair of hands (14 pairs, actually) who get the job done... we re keen to explore and develop new ideas and find innovative ways of working. We constantly question what we do and how we do it. If it ain t broke, we fix it anyway, which is how we keep ahead of our game as residential pros.
HUMBLE BEGINNINGS Way back in the 1960s, when most of us were small (or no more than a twinkle in our mothers eyes), Gwyn H Morris set up shop in Harpenden, a village in Hertfordshire. A couple of decades later, and the Leeds office was born, and the practice has been going strong ever since. Whilst we have produced masterpieces in a range of building sectors, our true calling is as residential architects. WAY BACK WHEN Over our almost half a century, we ve rightfully earned a reputation for well-designed, effective, and commercially aware solutions. We believe that housing is about people and in each project we do, we form long lasting relationships with residents, teams and contractors to create outstanding homes in sustainable communities. Below: Oakfield Close, Stevenage. 2011 GHM are proud to have a track record of repeat business from a diverse client base across the UK. We believe in solid dialogue with our clients to provide a tailored and professional design service. Over the last 15 years GHM has built up an impressive track record in the affordable housing sector, with a particularly strong presence in the eastern quarter of England.

THE DRY STUFF At GHM, we know our stuff... we re au fait with the various regulations and standards, including (but not limited to): HCA Design Quality Standards National Planning Framework Building for Life CfSH Level 3 Lifetime Homes Habinteg Wheelchair Design Standard Our diverse track record covers all aspects of residential design from postage stamp-sized sites through to large scale regeneration and master planning. Our back catalogue covers works to historic buildings, extensions and change-of-use of existing properties. However, in recent years, we ve been focussing mostly on new-build dwellings. At GHM we have a purist design approach, and unlike so many practices, we aren t bound by a practice house style. Instead, we approach each project with a fresh, open mind, and a desire to create something relevant and special. We use our experience to implement a robust design from the outset of each commission. A major contribution to our success is understanding how successful communities work and the importance of community engagement. All of our projects referenced have included GHM engaging with the local community at an early design stage. Some of our best skills can be seen in our urban planning designs, where we ve created safe, attractive neighbourhoods. Take a look at Upton, and some of our other works to see what we mean. Keep going to see some of our magic...
