In January 2017, Gauteng reported most cases, followed by West Rustenburg, Mpumalanga, Free State, Northern Cape, North West Klerksdorp, Limpopo and Western Cape regions. In January 2016, Free State reported most cases followed by Gauteng, North West Klerksdorp, North West Rustenburg, Northern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo, Mpumalanga and Western Cape regions. KwaZulu-Natal did not report any occupational diseases/illness in January 2017 and the Eastern Cape region did not report any occupational disease/illness during the same period for both years.

Continue to follow up on instructions issued to mines to ensure compliance. Continue to enforce early entry exam and support to achieve compliance.
