A record on information technology equipment or communications equipment (as defined by NFPA 75 ) or on off line storage media such as computer tape, magnetic disk drives, optical disks, and flash drives. 3.3.14.1.2 Hardcopy Record. A record whose information or value is usable without the aid of support equipment or tools. Examples include paper records and art. 3.3.14.2 Record Type. 3.3.14.2.1 Archival Material/Record. A record that was created or received and accumulated by a person or organization in the course of the conduct of affairs and that has been preserved because of its historical or continuing value. 3.3.14.2.2 Important Record. A record for which a reproduction, although acceptable as a substitute for the original, could be obtained only at considerable expense and labor or only after considerable delay. 3.3.14.2.3* Permanent Record. A record that has been determined to have sufficient value to warrant its permanent retention and preservation. 3.3.14.2.4* Useful Record. A record that is normally accumulated in operations and is kept for a time period established by the responsible party. 3.3.14.2.5* Vital Record.
