Riva Studio Dedicated Sealed External Air Kit For Studio Duplex Instructions for Use, Installation & Servicing For use in GB & IE (Great Britain & Republic of Ireland). IMPORTANT Please read these instructions carefully and in conjunction with the Riva Duplex Installation and User instructions. Care must be taken when handling the stove to avoid injury or damage to the stove. They will be needed when maintenance or servicing is required. PM959 Issue 2 (May 2015)

Installation Requirements General The Stovax Studio Duplex is a pioneering new product which can be converted for use with a purpose built external air supply by the addition of an optional kit: Stovax Code: RVS-2DSAIR (ask your retailer for details). Traditionally solid fuel appliances have worked by taking combustion air directly from the room they are installed in. This often requires permanent ventilation to be fitted to supply air to the room. The air provided is essentially for a safe combustion process, but can allow warm air to escape, and drafts to enter the room when the appliance isn't in use. In order to improve home energy efficiency Stovax have developed this sealed, dedicated external air supply kit to provide all of the air required for the appliance whilst removing the need for a permanently open air vent into the room. This helps by eliminating draughts and reducing heat loss. This Air Duct system shall be fitted and installed in accordance with these instructions and National Building Regulations, by a HETAS registered installer who has attended a H003 course. A Commissioning & Flue Performance Test must be carried out following the installation of the Air Kit, and the certificate at the back of the book must be completed, signed and dated by the installer. This dedicated external air kit provides the combustion air normally supplied by a vent in the wall. These instructions must be read in conjunction with the Installation and User instructions for: Riva Studio Duplex - PM904 1 Rope Seal Bar Screw Outside Air Tray Flange Air Duct Connecting Flange Screw Additional Fixing Screws Sealing Tape Plenum Chamber Fixing Band/ Jubilee Clip Air Duct 2

Commissioning/ Maintenance 5. Commissioning and Troubleshooting 5.1 Complete the appliance commissioning procedure as required on installation of the appliance. Once this has been complete and the appliance has been verified as operating in good condition, the following performance tests must be carried out on the flue system. 5.2 It is essential to ensure the following additional checks are made. The appliance is fully assembled and all parts are in their correct position. The manufacturer s instructions have been followed with particular regard to the correct fitting and adjustment of the dedicated air device. The correct position of the grate and air controls has been set for the type of fuel to be used. The correct fuel is being used for the appliance. 5.3 Once these additional check have been made: Close all doors and windows in the room that contains the appliance. Light a smoke pellet in the appliance and shut the appliance door. All air controls should be in their maximum open position. Check that all of the smoke enters the flue and none comes back into the room through any part of the stove or connecting flue pipe. If smoke enters the room, warm the flue to generate additional flue draught using a small fire or blow torch and repeat. 5.4 Hot Test - Refuelling: Light a small fire in the appliance, but large enough to establish a flue draught of at least 10Pa or as specified by the manufacturers instructions. In accordance with the manufacturers operating instructions open the appliance door to simulate loading fuel and check for spillage. If smoke fails to be drawn into the appliance check that the draught is as the minimum specified and repeat the test. NOTE: Intermittent minor spillage (wisps) of smoke is acceptable but constant spillage is not. 5.5 If it still fails progressively open a window. If the flue starts to draws the smoke, this will indicate a fault due to air starvation and the appliance is not provided with adequate air via the dedicated air supply to the room. Note the additional area of ventilation needed, and if it is a reasonable amount, add permanent ventilation into the room by that amount to correct the problem. 5.6 If the smoke continues to fail to be drawn up the flue, or fails with additional ventilation beyond that advised by ADJ thoroughly inspect the flue / chimney and termination for other faults. Extractor Fans Or Other Open Flued Heating Appliances In Adjacent Rooms 5.7 Extraction Test - appliance door shut Set to maximum any extract systems in the same or adjacent rooms (including cooker hoods and externally vented tumble dryers etc). Switch on and set to maximum any additional open flued heating appliances in the same or adjacent rooms. Open any connecting doors between the room in which the appliance is fitted and the room which contains the extractor fan and or heating appliances. Leave the remaining windows and doors shut in both rooms. Repeat the Hot Test in Section 5. If smoke enters the room then additional ventilation may be required to compensate for the extraction. This can be tested by gradually opening a window. If the smoke continues to fail to be drawn up the flue, or fails with additional ventilation beyond that advised by ADJ Table 1, thoroughly inspect the flue/chimney and termination for other faults. 5.8 When all of the above tests are satisfactory complete the Commissioning and Risk Assessment certificate at the ear of this manual ensuring it is signed and dated by the installer declaring that it compiles with Building Regulations and the manufacturers instructions. 6. Maintenance 6.1 Check internal and external vents and air ducts at least once a year for any obstructions. 6.2 Check the security of air connections to the stove and tighten if required. 7. CO Alarms All open flued appliances can be affected by temporary atmospheric conditions which may allow fumes to enter the house. Building regulations require that whenever a new or replacement fixed solid fuel or wood/biomass appliance is installed in a dwelling a carbon monoxide alarm must be fitted in the same room as the appliance. Further guidance on the installation of the carbon monoxide alarm is available in the latest edition of BS EN50292 and from the alarm manufacturer's instructions. Provision of an alarm must not be considered a substitute for either installing the appliance correctly or ensuring regular servicing and maintenance of the appliance and chimney system. Retest to confirm. 6
