Community Risk Reduction Public Safety Education During the month of March, the Fire Department assisted at (6) School Fire Drills and we installed smoke alarms in 1 home this month. There was (2) safety Tour at a Fire Station. Building and Project Plan Reviews Notable Projects Fire Prevention/Community Risk Reduction conducted (13) plan reviews in February, (1) license inspections for preschool, daycare facilities and/or home inspections for Adoption and Foster Care, (6) final acceptance tests for installed or upgraded fire protection systems or new businesses. There were (2) Freedom of Information Act Requests ( Meijer Dr. & 2927 N McCord. There were (8) inspections with the State Fire Marshal Office and (3) Consultation requests from local businesses for safety and fire protection needs. Fire Crews completed (237) inspections and re-inspections in March. Chief Froelich attended the annual 2 day Fire Code Academy/Campus Fire Safety Conference in Columbus in March and attended a final hearing by the Ohio Board of Building Standards concerning the new State Law for school door locking devices for use in the event of an active shooter/school lock-down emergency.. 11

LCEMS Continuing Education Training Hours Target Training # of Personnel Completed Hours 61 244 244 FIRE TRAINING BUREAU Achieving proficiency and professionalism through training and education. Your has highly trained professionals that conduct Extensive year-round training activities to maintain and improve their skills In a variety if disciplines to help our personnel to perform the wide variety of missions they may be assigned as the role of the Firefighter-Paramedic continues to evolve. We are continuing to develop our Training Programs to instill a standard format. During the month of March, we focused on our Fire Turnout Gear/ PPE, our SCOTT SCBA Air Packs, and completed the Annual Fit Test. All Personnel attended training that covered SCBA Inspection, Maintenance & Daily Checks. Utilizing Skill Sheet 5-1-3 PPE_SCBA and incorporating evolutions to verbalize, demonstrate and troubleshoot to ensure that the SCBA is ready for use. The annual PPE Inspection was conducted in which all crews were in-serviced on how to inspect all of the PPE, how to run a Firehouse Report for the individual s assigned inventory, and how to document PPE cleaning in Firehouse among some other information reviewed the PPE Inspection forms. All PPE repairs were documents and are underway. The NFPA & the Ohio Fire Marshall requires that PPE & SCBA each be fully donned separately within 1 minute. Skill Sheet 5-1-1 & 2 Don-Doff PPE- SCBA was incorporated to conduct the practice for efficiency. Crews challenged each other to be properly dressed and have the best time. Skill Sheet 5-1-7 SCBA Emergency Ops. and accompanying training material focusing on our SCOTT RIT Pack-III was utilized for SCBA Emergency Operations and MAYDAY/LUNAR reviews. 12

FIRE TRAINING BUREAU The month ended with everyone completing hands-on training in our SCBA Confidence Maze focusing on SCBA and air management skills. The Training is providing a base to move into the month of April when the emphasis will be to put these skills together while conducting Search & Rescue Drills and Down Firefighter/Saving our Own Training. We also conducted a review of Safety Officer SO 101-prioritize hazards to keep Safety in the forefront of our Operations. Our 6 new Part-Time Firefighters also started their Recruit Academy on March 25th and 26th, They will be attending the same Training that all new Full-Time employees will go through to get them acclimated to how the conducts their operations. All 6 are Ohio Certified FF-2, 3 are Paramedics and 3 are EMT s (2 currently enrolled in Paramedic School_. Lucas County EMS CE during March focused on Pediatric Geriatric Emergencies utilizing the new Handtevy Pediatric Resuscitation System. Sylvania Fire & EMS currently has 61 of the 62 Full-time employees that are Paramedics. Over 1700 hours of training were conducted during the month March and includes 265 hours towards Acting Officer Development Training, 138 hours of Recruit Training, 96 hours of LCEMS Paramedic Internship. The ability to improve our service is generated through many ideas and initiatives that originate from Our personnel, It is their values, energy, commitment and compassion that drive many of the Fire Training Bureau s functions, programs, and activities that support the accomplishment of our Mission of providing excellent service to the community. 13
