Community based tourism development in EU Regions INTERREG EUROPE Brokerage Session 15 th April 2015

Who we are Organisation: Legacoop Tourism (member in the Executive Committee for the Associated members of NECSTouR) the project is leaded by Emilia Romagna Region INTERREG IV C experience if any:????

What our idea is Priority Axis 4: Environment and Resource Efficiency 6c - conserving, protecting, promoting and developing natural and cultural heritage; The Project aims : to convert existing successful community based tourism experiences of territorial local development into Regional public policies shared at European level, targeting and integrating SMEs and cooperatives as tools for local and sustainable development and social territorial cohesion. Interregional Cooperation Project (exchange of good practices) Context: inland, mountain and rural territories = often victims of social problems such as depopulation, closing of the local, public services, and shops, aging of the population = Replicability and scaling possible in all the EU countries as the problematics are the same

What our idea is An Action plan divided into 2 phases: 1. Exchange of policy experience and preparation of lessons learned (2 years) 2. Monitoring of the Action Plan including Pilot phases (1 year) Objectives - Support a smart, inclusive and sustainable growth in the rural and mountain areas using community based tourism as tool for regional and territorial development at European level - Create sustainable jobs in the rural and mountain areas ; - Protect the natural resources and the environment as much as the material and immaterial local heritage, the local culture and know-how of the population, adopting a holistic territorial approach; - Insure local public services for the local population allowed and supported by the development of a sustainable tourism ; - Enhance active citizenship by stimulating the sense of belonging and ownership of a territory (such as the Management of the common goods) - Develop public policies in close collaboration with the local population with a bottom-up approach, using governance as a guarantee of democratic process; - Fight against depopulation of rural areas, aging of the population; - Provide a friendly environment for the development of SMEs, and social enterprises in the rural areas by recuperating and renovating the traditional know-how and handcraft.

Whom we are looking for Partners sought : - Other EU Regions willing to share the values and the experiences of community based tourism that have already knowledge or / and experiences regarding community based tourism. Interesting countries: - Hungary - Austria - Poland - Germany - Slovenia

Whom we are looking for Partners you have already in the consortium - Emilia Romagna Region (leader) (Italy) - AITR (Italian Association for Responsible Tourism) (Italy): expertise on responsible and sustainable tourism and community based tourism - Diesis COOP (Belgium/European platform); expertise on social economy, cooperative and social entreprises; - EARTH European Alliance For Responsible Tourism and Hospitality (European platform) : expertise at European level of responsible tourism representing the private sector; - Università di Bologna (Italy); expertise on training regarding sustainable tourism.
