Safe area requirements include the risks from fire, electric shock and personal injury hazards. 1, 2 C CC M T O TM The IECEx System is intended to facilitate international trade for equipment and services used in explosive atmospheres. Third party certification under the IECEx System only addresses explosion protection requirements. United States The UL Mark is recognized and is accepted in the USA. The Certification Mark is based on OSHA and ANSI accreditation. 1, 2 C CC M T O North America Latin America Canada The C-UL Mark is recognized and accepted in Canada. Certification Mark is based on Canadian Standards. 1, 2 C CC M T O Gulf of Mexico Brazil This region of the world accepts UL division/zone based and IECEx certification. Certification is mandated by CFR and API installation documents and regulated by BSEE and USCG. 1, 2 C CC M T O TM 3 C CC M T O The INMETRO Ordinance 179:2010 sets the rules for electrical and electronics equipment to be used in hazardous locations. To sell products in Brazil, manufacturers need to apply for this certification. Mexico Division based certifications are widely accepted. 1, 2 C CC M T O EU/EFTA The ATEX Directive ensures the free movement of goods throughout the EU and EFTA by harmonizing compliance procedures for explosion protected equipment. The European Union must comply with the ATEX Directive, European Directive 2014/34/EU. Chinese certification is required in order to gain access for HazLoc products to the People s Republic of China. ATEX and IECEx certificates and associated test reports can be used to obtain a Chinese certification. The Certification Label for Ex equipment in Japan indicates conformity to TIIS certification. A test report issued by an ExCB under the IECEx system will be accepted in accordance with the rules of the IECEx system. The term of validity of TIIS certificate on Ex-equipment is three years. The Safety Label for Ex equipment in Taiwan indicates conformity to Taiwan national standards (CNS) and completion of official registration scheme by Ministry of Labor, Taiwan Government. It is currently the mandatory requirement that all Ex equipment is required to acquire a Safety Label prior to importation, sales, distribution, installation or operation in Taiwan. The Safety Label for Ex equipment in Korea indicates conformity to Korea national standards (KS) and completion of the official registration scheme by the Ministry of Labor, Korean Government. It is currently the mandatory requirement that all Ex equipment shall acquire a safety label prior to import to sell, distribute, install or operate in Korea.
